Hannah and Samuel walked in and sat on the sofa, their expressions grim as they stared him down.
Under their intense gaze, Lionel felt a chill run down his spine, a wave of guilt washing over him.
He didn''t even dare to speak too loudly.
After a long, tense silence filled the room, Lionel finally spoke. “Hannah, you must have heard I was injured, so you came to see me. It''s not that serious, you don''t have to worry."
Samuel couldn''t help but let out a snort ofughter.
"You''re unbelievably shameless, you know that? You can say anything with a straight face. I''m sure you know exactly why we''re here."
"Lionel, tell me why you went there yesterday," Hannah demanded, her face dark and menacing.
"Why did you do it? Why did you interfere in my affairs? Do you have any idea that because of your interference, I missed out on crucial information? You''ve got until I lose my patience. Start talking."
Hannah feigned extreme anger, her eyes boring into him, her wordsced with a fiery rage that made her fury palpable.
Seeing her like this, Lionel''s heart skipped a beat. He swallowed hard, a nervous tension gripping him.
He took a deep breath, ready to speak, but it felt as if a water-soaked sponge was lodged in his throat, choking him and preventing any sound from escaping.
He had no idea how to exin himself. Their rtionship was so strained now that no matter what he said, Hannah wouldn''t believe him.
But if he didn''t offer some exnation, he would only make her angrier.
After much thought, Lionel finally said, "I have my own ways of getting information. How I found out is my business, you don''t need to worry about it.”
“Besides, those men were obviously trying to trick you. They wanted to lure you over there and do something terrible to you."
As he said this, he had a sudden realization.
elne
How he found out wasn''t important What mattered was that those people were liars. They never
intended to give Hannah and God
any
information.
Their only goal was to hurt her!
"If I hadn''t gone alonest night, you would have been the one they hurt. Hannah, you can''t trust a word they say. They''re just trying to deceive you. If anything like this happen''s again, you have to take me with you. It''ll be safer that way!"
Lionel looked at her earnestly, speaking each word with heartfelt sincerity.
After he finished, both Hannah and Samuel fell silent.
They couldn''t believe that even now, the man was still speaking with such a high and mighty tone.
He had just been schooled by Cherry, and yet here he was, spouting the same old arrogance.
The man truly learned nothing from his mistakes.
Samuel didn''t hold back. He immediately shot back, "What did you just say? Are you asking Hannah to thank you? To be grateful that you went, otherwise she would have been the one who got hurt? Is that it?"
As if he couldn''t detect the sarcasm in Samuel''s voice, Lionel actually nodded, his expression serious and solemn.
“Of course. If I hadn''t gone, think about what would have happened. Those guys were just trying to scam her."
Samuel rubbed his forehead. For a moment, he thought he must be running a fever and hallucinating to be hearing such nonsense.
