The man was a lunatic.
And a seriously disturbed one at that.
Samuel''s eyes filled with sympathy as he looked at Hannah. For the past three years-no, more than that. She had been with Lionel for over a decade.
For all those years, Hannah had watched him descend into this madness.
What a hellish life. Thank God Hannah had finallye to her senses, found her family, and could now escape this madman.
Sandra returned to the Rosenberg estate.
This time, her treatment waspletely different. There were no attentive maids, no princess-like luxuries she had once enjoyed.
Now, her status in the Rosenberg household was lower than that of a guest.
Lionel had her stay in a small room on the fifth floor. The entire floor was mostly unused, with the other rooms locked.
He even stationed five bodyguards outside her door to prevent her from escaping.
Seeing this, a chill crept into Sandra''s heart. She thought she had escaped one prison, only to find herself in another.
She looked at the five bodyguards and couldn''t help but say to Lionel, "You''ve already put me on the fifth floor. Where could I possibly go? I can''t jump out the window unless I have a death wish."
But Lionel paid no attention to her words.
He called for a doctor toe and redress her wounds.
The doctor approached, but Sandra took a step back.
"Don''t bother You want me dead anyway, so why pretend to care by having a doctor patch me up? Stop with the fake sincerity Instead of wasting your time on this, you should be figuring out how toget evidence that Quennel kidnapped me."
Sandra endured the pain and continued, "Given Hannah''s attitude toward you now, even if I told her it was Quennel who kidnapped and tortured me that he caused all these injuries, she wouldn''t believe it without proof."
Sandra stared straight at Lionel.
She couldn''t believe how much had changed in the short time she was gone.
If this were the past, all she would have had to do was say Quennel''s name, and with a few words from Lionel, Hannah would have believed her.
The Hannah of today was not so easily swayed.
"In fact, she might even think I''m just saying it to protect you. All I want now is to live
in peace. So, unless you find some evidence, I''m not speaking up for you."
"Sandra, I told you I treated you well. Is this how you repay me?"
Hearing Lionel''s words, Sandra froze for a moment.
She blinked several times, momentarily thinking she had misheard him. Here she was, talking to him about something so critical, so important, and that was his response?
"You treated me well, but I earned it. I fought for everything I got. Besides, you weren''t the only one giving. My effort means nothing to you? It was a transactional rtionship, so stop acting like you were the only one who ever made a sacrifice.
Sandra almostughed out loud from sheer frustration.
"Anyway, if you want to get out of this alive, you''ll do as I say. As for the evidence, I''ll
find it. The next time we''re meeting Hannah, you will confess everything. Do you hear me?"
