Chapter 530

"Why are the security cameras at the house broken? That shouldn''t be possible. Are you sure you checked properly, or did you mess something up?"

Halfway through his sentence, he had a sudden realization, and his expression turned grim. His grip on the phone tightened, the veins on the back of his hand popping out as he questioned through gritted teeth.

"Did Quennel tell you to delete the surveince footage?"

The staff member on the other end of the line immediately exined, "You''re mistaken, sir. Those cameras broke a month or two ago. We asked your mother back then if she wanted to have them repaired."

"She said that stretch of road doesn''t get any foot traffic, so there was no need to fix them. After all, the property has been abandoned for so long, and the cameras in the ruins haven''t been used in ages. They''re all old and broken down now. If you had told us you needed them, we would have installed new ones a couple of days ago."

Despite the exnation, Lionel refused to believe that the cameras were left broken simply because the area was deserted and the house had been abandoned for a long time.

For an ordinary family, that might be understandable, since it would be a considerable expense. But for the Rosenberg family, installing cameras anywhere was a trivial matter. The cost was nothing to them.

The staff member on the phone added, "Sir, if there''s nothing else, I need to get back to my work."

Lionel''s face was ashen as he lowered the phone, his gaze falling. His mind raced, trying to analyze how things hade to this.

"Lionel, did you get the surveince footage?" Samuel asked with a

smile, seeing him hang up. "Don''t tell me the cameras were broken, that they weren''t in use, or that the footage is gone. If you''re going to life, at leaste up with a better excuse than ''the cameras were

broken.'' Is that really the best you can do?"

"It was Quennel. He got rid of the cameras because he was afraid of exposing his tracks."

He turned to Sandra, his voice trembling with a mix of hurt and anger.

"Sandra, why did you lie? If I hadn''t rescued you today, you''d still be locked up in that cell. Why won''t you tell the truth? Did Quennel threaten you? If he did, just tell me. I''ll help you."

"You''ve already done so much for Sandra, and now you want to help her more? You''re such a good person," Hannah said, standing up, her eyes filled with disgust.

"Since Sandra has already said you were the one who kidnapped her, and you have no evidence to prove you didn''t, can I just assume this whole thing was staged by you?"

"Hannah, why don''t you believe me? Why would kidnap her? This is all Quennel''s doing! He''s the one whoz kidnapped Sandra. And Sandra told me before that Quennel gave her the drag to use on you to get you into his room. But you went to the wrong room, which is what led to everything that happened before our wedding. It made me misunderstand you. This is all Quennel''s fault!"

Hannah let out a derisiveugh at Lionel''s hysterical outburst.

"So, am I supposed to believe it was you who threatened Sandra into saying Quennel was the one with the drugs? You''ve always wanted to drive @wedge between Quennel and me. You never got along with him and always told me to stay away. Who''s to say this isn''t just another one of your schemes? If it''s not, then show me some proof."
