Faced with Lionel''s usation, Quennel''s expression remained perfectly
When he told Hannah about the bugged conversation, he never expected Sandra to keep that secret.
He had gone to see her today and warned her that if she didn''t behave, he would take action. In response, Sandra immediately brought up the incident from three years ago to threaten him.
That had been the final straw.
But even with Lionel confronting him now, he felt no sense of panic.
"No wonder Hannah said what she did to me," Quennel scoffed, closing hisptop. He swiveled his chair to face him.
"What did Hannah say to you!"
At the mention of her name, Lionel tensed up.
He knew Quennel''s intentions toward Hannah were suspect, but she foolishly trusted him, ignoring all his warnings.
For all he knew, she had already told Quennel everything!
Quennel crossed his arms, his deep-set eyes scanning Lionel up and down before he let out another derisive snort. "What else? Just that you''ll always believe whatever Sandra says, and you''ll never trust anyone else."
The words hit Lionel like a punch to the gut.
Hannah had said the same thing to him countless times, and each time he had tried to exin himself. But in light of recent events, his exnations felt incredibly weak and pathetic...
"Did Sandra tell you I was the one who drugged you? That I wanted to ruin your wedding?" Quennel''s lips curved into a smirk.
"Lionel, exin this to me. What possible benefit would I gain from drugging you and sending Hannah to your room?"
Faced with Quennel''s question, Lionel was momentarily speechless.
On the drive over, he hadn''t thought about that at all.
He had always believed Hannah was the one who drugged him. Even when she tried to exin, he never believed her.
They had fought about it for three years.
And now, to be told it wasn''t Hannah, but Quennel...
His mind had exploded at the news. He couldn''t think about anything else and had driven straight here.
"Now, if you were to say I had
feelings for Sandra and didn''t want
her to marry you, then drugging you and setting you up with Hannah might make some sense. But Sandra was your savior, your fiancée, the woman you loved. What would I want with her?"
"Or do you think I was trying to stop your marriage because I was afraid your
growing power would threaten me?"
As he said this, Quennel let out a coldugh, his eyes sweeping over Lionel with a look of utter disdain before shaking his head.
"It''s no wonder Hannah fought with
you constantly for three years and lost all her feelings for you. After all, dealing with an idiot would wear
down anyones love: Contents
Quennel looked at him as if he were a fool, his eyes filled with mocking contempt.
He tilted his head and asked
dismissively, I have no idea what
Hannah ever saw in you But you''ve certainly had a lucky wife, being propped up by two different women. How else would you have gotten where you are today?"
Honestly, there weren''t many men who were so fortunate, relying on women since
they were young and continuing to do so as adults.
