"How so?" Juniper asked with interest, loungingzily in a chair with her legs crossed. She was munching on some spicy jerky sticks that Shanley had tried to hide from her, but she''d found them anyway.
“She''s just like you," Celine said, ncing at Juniper with a small smile, hershes dipping low. "Loves to eat, loves to cause trouble, and loves to fight."
Juniper''s chewing faltered. Suddenly, the jerky in her mouth didn''t taste so good anymore. Only a real sister could deliver such a sharp-tonguedpliment.
"So, Juniper, when are you and Mr. Schwartz getting married?" Celine changed the subject, dabbing her lips. “He seems really good to you."
"Married?" Juniper took a sip of her milkshake, her long, thickshes fluttering. "I haven''t even made things official with him yet," she drawled.
"What?" Celine froze for a second, her face peeking out from behind a bag of potato chips.
Juniper tilted her head back, revealing her elegant corbones, a faint smile ying on her lips. “He''s been on his best behaviortely, so I might take him out and introduce him around. As for marriage, he hasn''t even proposed. You don''t expect me to be the one chasing him down the aisle, do you?"
“Huh?” Celine''s brain was still trying to catch up. She leaned forward, blinking. “So if he asks, you''ll really marry him?"
Juniper fiddled with the snack bag, her starry eyes deep and thoughtful.
Just as she was about to answer, Flint''s voice interrupted. "Ms. Payne, your brother- inw... former brother-inw... I mean, Warren is here."
Juniper tossed her snack aside, her gazending on Celine''s face. "Celine, do you know who Warren is?"
“Hmm?” Celine sat perfectly still, her expression unchanging. "Flint said he''s your former brother-inw? Is he Ebony Fox''s ex-boyfriend?"
Juniper''s face went nk. *This is getting ridiculous,* she thought.
"Let him in."
Maybe seeing his face would jog Celine''s memory.
A momentter, Warren appeared in the hall, carrying a box. From the moment he walked in, his eyes were glued to Celine, searching her face for any flicker of emotion.
He was disappointed. The look she gave him was colder than a winter frost.
Juniper turned her head, studying Celine with a knowing look. "You really don''t know him?” she asked again. "Warren Sherwin. Lord of Liberty Ind. Your childhood sweetheart. Your legal husband."
“Huh?” Celine blinked, a look of pure shock on her face. She looked lost and confused. “Husband? Why don''t I remember that?”
"You were sick," Warren said,
opening the box and taking out their marriage certificate and wedding photos. After your treatment, your memories of me became jumbled, so you don''t remember. This is proof that we''re married. If you don''t believe me, I have video recordings too."
He had saved every detail of their lives together over the years, though it would take time to organize it all.
"Is that so?" Celine shifted, her
crimson lips moving slightly. Her tone was nonchnt. "I remember everyone else, but I forgot my
Husband. Could it be that you
drive,
treated me so badly that I chose to
forget you on purpose?"
"No!" Warren''s brow furrowed, and he cast a desperate, pleading look at Juniper. "Juniper knows. Ask her."
Juniper''s gaze shifted back and forth between Warren and Celine, finally settling on the faint, knowing smirk on her sister''s face. Her sister had just learned she had a husband, and this was her reaction? And that look in her eyes when she nced at Warren... on the surface, it was cold, but if you looked closely, you could see a hidden warmth.
Juniper scoffed internally. Amnesia? This didn''t look like amnesia at all!
