Harold was just as excited, but he was forcing himself to suppress it. “Get back here as soon as you have the sample. The longer we wait, the more I worry the results could bepromised."
"Got it."
After hanging up, Juniper remained sitting on the bed, pletely still.
"What''s wrong?" Seeing the color drain from Juniper''s face, Shanley was filled with concern. "What did Harold say?"
“He said.......” Juniper turned her head to look at Shanley, forcing the words through her teeth. "Warren''s wife... might be my sister."
At those words, even the eternally calm andposed Shanley looked shocked. The elusivedy of Liberty Ind could be Juniper''s sister? Didn''t that mean the shipment of medicine he destroyed... was meant to treat her sister?
He had found that out after returning from Liberty Ind. Warren was obsessively devoted to his wife, and the loss of that medicine was why he had harbored a grudge against him for all these years. Shanley licked his lips and nced guiltily at Juniper.
"Warren went crazy back then, trying to fight me for a shipment of medicine..."
Juniper pulled her knees to her chest, resting her chin on them. She stared nkly out the window, her lips barely moving. “Thinking back, most of it was medication for neurological conditions. He was buying it to treat Celine."
If Celine really was her sister...
Juniper couldn''t bear to think about the magnitude of her mistake.
"I''m going back to Liberty Ind," Juniper said, lifting her head. Her eyes had turned red, a mix of excitement and dread swirling within them.
"I''ll make the arrangements,” Shanley said, not daring to object. He immediately told Felton and Flint to prepare the car and asked Dana to make breakfast. By the time Juniper finished her makeup and disguise, it would be ready.
Two hourster, after getting everything ready, Juniper called Warren.
His tone was exceptionally hostile. "You drew that much blood yesterday and now you''re telling me it''s not enough?" he barked. Th starting to wonder if you''re a master physician or just a chatan."
Juniper nearly crushed her phone. Swallowing her rage, she shot back, "Let''s cut
the crap. Just tell me, are you pissing normally yet or not?"
The question was a direct hit to his pride. And damn it, he couldn''t even deny it. After two doses of the herbs she prescribed, things had been noticeably better today.
“That''s apletely different issue!" Warren retorted, his voice booming. "Do you have any idea how long it will take to replenish all the blood you drew yesterday?"
Normally, he couldn''t stand to see Celine even frown, and this quack was drawing her blood not once, but twice.
"Don''t you yell at me!" Juniper''s
fingers tightened, her anger ring.
"You think I''m scared of you
=wanther cure
If you
you''ll do as k?ay
not, then get lost!"
"Doctor?" A small voice cut in. Celine, who had been ying in the dirt nearby, heard Juniper''s voice and rushed over, standing on her tiptoes. "It''s me, Celine."
Hearing Celine''s voice, Juniper felt a lump form in her throat, and her eyes reddened. "I need toe draw more blood today, but Warren won''t agree. What should we do?"
"You''reing over?" Celine''s smile vanished, and she red at Warren. "I''ll be good and get my treatment, and wont go to ra City anymore. And you can have this."
With that, she shoved the small doll she had been nning to give to Juniper into Warren''s hands.
Warren''s face was grim. He was furious. For this damn doctor, not only was she giving up her favorite trip to Era City, but she was also giving him her beloved doll?
This doctor was a gue. An absolute, home-wrecking gue.
