Chapter 1120

    ?Chapter 1120:

Louis fidgeted, worry painted on his face. “Didn’t you hear Jeffry? Malcolm isn’t just good—he’s world-ss. Why are you still set on this? What if something happens to you?”

Losing wasn’t what kept Louis up at night. It was the risks of racing and the chance she could get hurt that really scared him.

Jeffry sent Elena a look of disapproval but decided not to push the matter any further.

Breaking the tension, Elena turned to Louis. “Louis, do you have any idea what Malcolm put on the line if I win?”

He blinked in confusion. “No. What did he say?”

Elena said, “He won’t oppose you being with Kiera.”

The news hit Louis like a bolt of lightning. He shot to his feet, eyes wide with shock. “You’re telling me Malcolm actually agreed not to oppose me and Kiera?” A silent nod from her confirmed it. “That’s right.”

Delight broke across his features, the realization lighting him up. Without Malcolm’s opposition, Kiera would surely agree to be with him. Excitement, however, gave way to doubt. The thought lingered—Elena winning against Malcolm seemed impossible.

Choosing his words so as not to hurt her confidence, Louis said, “I know you’re looking out for me, Elena, but honestly, no matter what Malcolm thinks, I’ll stay by Kiera’s side. There’s no need for you to take such a huge risk.”

His only sister meant the world to him. If something went wrong on that track, help would be out of reach. He just wanted her to stay safe.

Elena rose and gave Louis’s shoulder a reassuring pat. “Don’t you trust me?”

Seeking backup, Louis nced toward Jeffry.

Jeffry kept his features neutral, not saying a word to side with Louis.

It became clear that Jeffry wouldn’t take his side, so Louis forced an encouraging smile. “I think you can win.”

A note of finality entered Elena’s tone. “It’s settled, then. If you’re not busy,e watch the race tomorrow.” Louis nodded with a restrained smile.

As soon as Elena disappeared upstairs, Louis swung around to face Jeffry. “Jeffry, why didn’t you step in? Are you just going to sit back and let her race Malcolm?”

A calm look settled on Jeffry’s face. “She made her choice. If she wants a thrill, why not let her enjoy it?”

Concern etched deeper into Louis’s brow. “Don’t you realize how risky racing can be? You see the headlines—people crash all the time. What if she gets hurt?”

A quiet confidence marked Jeffry’s response. “Elena isn’t someone who needs us hovering. I have faith in her capabilities.”

Jeffry’s statement caught Louispletely off guard. Whatever protests he had nned fizzled out, leaving him speechless.

Restlessness clung to Louis the rest of the day, worry gnawing at him from the inside.

When the sun set on the following day, the outskirts of the buzzed with excitement at the racetrack. The three Harper brothers showed up together, ready to cheer Elena on in her showdown with Malcolm. Karen somehow caught wind of the event and showed up.

From the pitne, Malcolm stepped into view first, zipped into his racing suit. Gone was the calm, bookish man in sses—his lean frame and confident stance made him look every bit the professional racer.

The sight of him took Karen’s breath away, her heart beating wildly in her chest. Sure, she’d always found Malcolm dashing, but today he was on another level. The racing gear made him look like the ideal husband she’d always pictured. Unable to help herself, Karen clutched her hands over her heart, cheeks flushing uncontrobly.
