Chapter 1084

    ?Chapter 1084:

For a heartbeat, a ruthless glint sparked in Graham’s eyes, and his voice was almost eerily cool. “Miss Russell, you seem rather unwell tonight, thus spouting nonsense. Security, please show her out.”

Two guards immediately appeared, seizing Ste by the arms and hustling her toward the exit.

The crowd collectively held its breath, anxious to see if her reckless words would fan the mes of Graham’s old grudge against the Harpers. Plenty of guests remembered his longstanding hostility toward Elena’s family. No one really understood why Graham had backed off back then, but with his new authority, would he decide to settle old scores?

Graham, however, only offered a casual smile as he gazed at Elena and Wesley. “Miss Harper, please think nothing of it. Mr. Spencer, Miss Harper—please, enjoy the evening. Duty calls, so I’ll take my leave.”

And with that, he strode away, leaving the tension simmering behind him. A ripple of confusion ran through the onlookers. Was that really all there was to it? They had braced for fireworks—a public showdown, maybe even a scandal. But it seemed Graham was smarter than they’d thought. He knew better than to sh head-on with Wesley.

Meanwhile, upstairs, Elena’sposure never wavered. She surveyed the scene below with cool indifference.

Wesley leaned toward her, a hint of warmth in his eyes. “Did anyone just try to make things difficult for you?”

Elena’s tone was crisp and dismissive. “Just a pack of fools.”

“Would you like to linger here?” Wesley offered.

Casting an uninterested look at the gathering crowd below, Elena shook her head. “Let’s go home.”

She could already sense that if they lingered, the party guests would swarm to curry favor with Wesley. One thing was certain: after tonight, a lot of people in the would be lying awake, their minds racing.

t the Morgan house, Aria’s eyes were puffy with tears as she snapped at her husband, “Evelyn isn’t at fault! It’s Jeffry who was determined to get a divorce. Take it up with him if you’ve got something to say!”

Evelyn, looking utterly aggrieved, flung herself into her mother’s arms. “Mom, the Harper family are all cruel. They’re all turning against me,” she sobbed.

Aria held her daughter close, her heart aching with sympathy. “I can’t believe I once thought Jeffry was a man of character. Who would have thought he’d cheated? Alexander and Jolie clearly did a terrible job raising him. Let him go, Evelyn. A man like that isn’t worthy of you.”

Jerry couldn’t stay still and kept pacing back and forth in the living room. Aria’s words only made his frown grow darker. “Quitining!” he hissed, his voice sharp and firm. He was already drowning in anxiety—the Morgan Group was on the verge of bankruptcy, and the Harper family was the only lifeline left.

Aria, oblivious to how dire things had be, retorted, “Did I say anything wrong? What kind of father stands by while his daughter is mistreated? Instead of defending Evelyn, you me her for divorcing Jeffry! Why don’t you march over to the Harper family estate and give Jeffry a piece of your mind for mistreating Evelyn? All you do is yell at me at home. Only a worthless man would vent his anger on his wife. You’re nothing but a useless failure!”

Jerry’s patience snapped. “Enough!” he shouted, rubbing his temples, exhaustion etched into every line of his face.

Evelyn wiped her tears and turned to him. “Dad, why are you taking it out on Mom? The Harpers have already humiliated me, and now you want me to go crawling back to Jeffry?”
