?Chapter 1066:
A cool stare from Elena was all he got in return, and she brushed his hands away.
For a second, his grin slipped away. He searched her face, noticing the distance in her eyes. A beat passed before his tone shifted. “Is something bothering you? Did someone say something to upset you?”
Elena wasn’t one to beat around the bush. “Are you really going to marry Ste?” she asked bluntly.
Wesley’s expression darkened. “Who told you that nonsense?”
“Ste,” Elena answered.
Wesley’s dark eyes fixed onto hers. “You’re the only woman I ever intend to marry.” His eyes brimmed with unmistakable affection.
Their gazes locked.
Feeling the weight of his intense gaze, Elena turned her face aside, suddenly shy.
Wesley refused to let her avoid him. He caught the chair with his leg, tugging her closer until their knees almost touched.
That distant, reserved side of Wesley disappeared as he leaned in, his attention pinned only to her. His Adam’s apple moved with a nervous swallow, and his next words came out low and inviting. “Elena, don’t you think it’s time to make us official?”
He’d been careful—never rushing, never pushing too hard, just easing his way into her life piece by piece. Patience was his strength—he’d worn down her defenses with gentle persistence, woven himself into her daily routines, and waited for the day she’d let him in. Now, finally, that day had arrived.
His gaze pressed in, close enough for his nose to nearly brush hers, every line of his face hinting at the longing inside. A voice deep and sure, velvet-smooth, coaxed her closer. “Stop holding back, Elena. You like me, and I like you too. Let’s just try and see where it goes.”
Elena had to admit, he was persuasive. Her eyes fluttered up to meet his, shes skimming across his cheek, sending a subtle shiver through him. A quietugh escaped him, soft and content.
She realized he wasn’t wrong. Her heart had chosen him, even if her words hadn’t. With no more doubts, she reached up, slid her arms around his neck, and drew him down for a kiss.
Wesley hardly had a moment to react before Elena caught his lower lip between her teeth and pulled him in for amanding, feverish kiss.

Electricity flickered in his gaze, and the corners of his mouth lifted into a sly grin. Surrendering came easily—he let her call every shot.
When the kiss broke, Elena pulled back. Her breathing quickened, but her eyes never wavered as she dered, “Starting now, you belong to me.”
One of Wesley’s eyebrows shot up. “That goes both ways. You kissed me. Now you’ve gotta take responsibility.”
That sounded perfectly fair to Elena. She answered with a sharp nod. “I ept.”
Without missing a beat, Wesley slipped an arm around her waist and, with a smooth motion, lifted her right onto the desk. Leaning in, he kissed her again—this time unleashing everything he’d been holding back.
Compared to her earlier kiss, his touch was wild and consuming. The hunger in him took over. His lips crashed into hers, tongue iming her mouth with all the urgency of a gathering storm.
Back pressed hard against the desk’s edge, Elena had nowhere left to retreat. Still, Wesley’s hunger only deepened.
Moving closer, he wedged himself between her thighs, hands locked tight at her waist, refusing to let her slip away.
Even the sharp, orderly atmosphere of the office couldn’t put out the fire zing between them. In fact, the contrast made every sensation sharper. Wesley moved on instinct alone—thought never even entered the equation. He was instantly aroused.
