?Chapter 1062:
Liam let his words hang in the air, clearly testing how Wesley would respond.
Wesley gave nothing away. “Is that so?” he replied, tone dry and unreadable.
Liam pressed on. “The two of you would make a perfect couple. If you agreed to marry my daughter, we’d be family, and that would certainly make the Spencer family’s current situation a lot lessplicated.”
Wesley’s eyes narrowed slightly as he answered with a hint of sarcasm. “Your daughter is quite exceptional. I imagine an ordinary gift wouldn’t impress her.”
Seeing Wesley y along, Liamughed heartily. “Oh, you don’t need to worry about that. She’s not that type of girl. But as her father, I naturally don’t want her to suffer. I’m sure you understand. I’m not asking for anything outrageous. Just fifty percent of the Spencer Group shares as a gift to her will do.”
Wesley smirked. Half of the Spencer Group shares. This old snake was truly greedy. He calmly rose from his seat and walked to the door, pulling it open. “Marriage isn’t something to be taken lightly. I have a full schedule today, so I’ll have to cut this short.”
Liam’s face instantly soured. He hadn’t expected Wesley to turn him down, at least not so bluntly. He assumed Wesley would eventuallye crawling back. Liam stormed out, his expression dark and stiff with resentment.
Once Liam was gone, Felix spoke up, concern etched in his voice. “Mr. Spencer, pushing Mr. Russell like that might make it even harder to resolve the situation with Slebert Wharf.”
Felix understood Wesley had feelings for Elena, which made marrying Liam’s daughter out of the question. Still, Wesley had been a little too direct. He’d shut Liam down outright, offering not even a shred of courtesy. Requesting some time to think it over might have bought them some breathing room.
Unlike Felix, Arion wasn’t one to worry about the intricacies involved. He scoffed. “So what if he’s offended? He threatened Mr. Spencer. He’s lucky I didn’t rip out his tongue. Asking for half of the Spencer Group’s shares? He’s out of his mind. Besides, Mr. Spencer already has the ring ready for the one he wants to marry—Miss Harper. Is that correct, Mr. Spencer?”
Felix followed Arion’s gaze and looked at Wesley.
Wesley didn’t expect Arion to be so perceptive this time and nodded in approval. “That’s right.”

Wesley was determined—no other woman but Elena would be his wife. Praise was a rare currency for Wesley. When he offered it, Arion swelled with pride, shooting a triumphant smirk Felix’s way.
With a weary sigh, Felix massaged his temples. Arion and Wesley seemed utterly unconcerned, as if Liam’s looming vengeance didn’t weigh on them at all. Liam wasn’t just any official—he wielded serious power as mayor. If he chose to target the Spencer Group, things could get ugly fast.
The risks gnawed at Felix, prompting him to speak up. “Mr. Spencer, what if Mr. Russell freezes our funds?” That scenario haunted him the most.
Not a flicker of emotion crossed Wesley’s face when he answered, his tone cold. “He’s not nearly as powerful as you think.”
Though worry lingered, Felix chose to trust in Wesley’s judgment. So far, Wesley had never led them astray.
The Spencer Group matter had unraveled so much that even the alliance between Edgewing and the Azure Dragon Unit Base had been forced to hit pause.
With nothing left tying her down, Elena gathered her things, ready to leave the base.
Kason appeared in the doorway, lingering just long enough to catch her attention.
As Elena tucked herptop and cords away, she shot him a questioning look. “Something on your mind?”
