?Chapter 1016:
That was when Elena’s eyes found N standing off to the side. So that was what this was really about. N had made things difficult for her once again.
A low, mocking chuckle slipped from Elena’s lips. “You’re absolutely right—Dr. Vance doesn’t need a man.”
Thinking he had backed her into a corner, Morrison shed a smug grin. “d to see you finally get it. With that face, maybe if you get on your knees and apologize to Dr. Vance right now, I’ll be generous and let you leave without further embarrassment—”
Elena cut him off cold. “Dr. Vance just needs to lie boldly and twist the narrative to her advantage for her own gain.”
Morrison blinked, clearly thrown off. “Excuse me? What did you just say?” Had this woman just insulted the Healer’s protégé? How dare she run her mouth like that?
Elena simply shrugged. “Let her run her mouth. She can im she’s the Healer if any foolish listener actually buys it.”
A sh of anger crossed Morrison’s face. “Are you questioning Dr. Vance’s identity as the Healer’s protégé? Are you trying to start a scene?”
Elena’s eyes darkened. She wasn’t questioning. She was here to reveal the truth, to make N admit that she was never the Healer’s protégé, right here in front of everyone.
But before Elena could snap back, another voice echoed from behind. “Who exactly do you think you’re threatening?”
The words cut through the tension as Jonah stepped into view.
The color drained from Morrison’s face at the sight of Jonah. He quickly forced a smile. “Jonah, you’re here. Just a minor issue. A woman trying to sneak in. I’ll handle it right away.”
Jonah moved to Elena’s side, calm and steady, but his tone left no room for argument. “She’s with me. Now, why don’t you exin what you were nning to do to her?”
Morrison’s face shifted before he could stop it. This woman was Jonah’s friend? That didn’t sit right with him at all.
Everyone in the Boyd family knew Jonah’s position. He stood as the sole heir, set to inherit everything and take the reins of Boyd Pharmaceuticals. Compared to him, Morrison was just another name in the family records, belonging to a distant branch with hardly any influence at all.
Any other day, Morrison wouldn’t have dared to pick a fight with someone like Jonah, no matter how bold he felt. Today, though, things were different—he had the Healer’s protégé on his side, or so he thought.

That supposed connection emboldened Morrison. Drawing himself up, he said, “Jonah, this woman disrespected the Healer’s protégé. Do you really want to get on the Healer’s bad side over her?”
Jonah, a doctor at the Base Medical Center, immediately caught on that Morrison was referring to N. He had long suspected Elena was the Healer, the one who had operated on Lamont the other day. Now, seeing her show up here seemed to confirm what he had been thinking—Elena was the real Healer. Since Elena questioned N’s im as the Healer’s protégé, N had to be lying.
Jonah pointed at Elena, his voice steady and sure as he addressed Morrison. “I said she’s my friend. Were you not listening?” Even though his words were calm, his eyes told a different story. He wasn’t just any member of the Boyd family—he was the next in line.
Morrison faltered, unable to hold Jonah’s gaze.
Without missing a beat, N stepped forward. “Dr. Boyd, I didn’t expect you’d make an appearance today. Since you’re attending the forum, why didn’t you let me know ahead of time?” She acted as if she already called the shots at the Base Medical Center, her wordsced with reprimand and dissatisfaction.
