?Chapter 1014:
Morrison’s grip lingered, just a second longer than necessary. Truthfully, he hadn’t wanted to attend the forum. He figured it would be dull from start to finish. But hearing that the Healer’s protégé would be there changed his mind instantly. And he hadn’t expected this protégé to be gorgeous. Now he was all in. A connection with the Healer’s protégé could open doors, and he knew his uncle would be impressed.
Chasing that opportunity, Morrison shed a yful smile. “I’ll be honest, I expected today to drag. But you just turned a boring event into something I’ll remember.” His gaze lingered, unspoken interest clear in his expression.
Morrison considered himself quite the catch, convinced that no woman could resist him once he made a move.
N’s brows knit slightly as she firmly pulled her hand back from Morrison’s grip. She felt nothing for the Boyd family. Her focus was all on the Spencers now. In the, no one stood taller than the Spencers. The Boyds had a recognizable name, sure, but they were nowhere near that kind of power. And, to be honest, Wesley was the real force behind the Spencer Group. Morrison only yed a minor part among the Boyds. She couldn’t care less about him.
“That’s kind of you to say, Mr. Boyd,” N said, her tonepletely t.
But Morrison wasn’t one to back down so easily. He tried again. “Dr. Vance, how about we grab dinner after this?”
N opened her mouth to refuse but paused as she noticed someone familiar near the door. A chill spread across her face.
When N didn’t respond, Morrison followed her gaze and spotted a stunning young woman. “Is she someone you know?” he asked, searching N’s face for a hint.
Displeasure flickered in N’s eyes. “She’s just another girl who uses men to get ahead. Why would she show up here?”
The tone said it all—she couldn’t stand that woman.
Morrison, still searching for a way to impress N, sensed an opportunity drop right into hisp. “This forum is exclusive to leading doctors. If she’s not with your team, I can have her escorted out.”
N squared her shoulders, her voice crisp as ice. “Someone like her has no ce on my team.”
That answer made Morrison brighten. “Well, that settles it then.” He spun around and called out, “Security!”
Instantly, the guards at the entrance snapped to attention.
The grand event, known as the International Advanced Medical Practices Forum, was taking ce in Houis. Boyd Pharmaceuticals put up the money, and the Boyd family had handpicked every guard on duty.
One of the guards spotted Morrison and straightened his posture. “How can I help, Mr. Boyd?”
Raising a finger, Morrison motioned toward Elena. “Today marks the Healer’s debut. Stay alert. If anyone uninvited slips inside and causes trouble, you’ll be answering for it.”
“Understood,” the guard said, giving him a firm nod. “We’ll be extra vignt.”
Morrison added, “She doesn’t have an invitation. Remove her.”
The guard’s eyes followed Morrison’s gesture andnded on Elena. “Right away.” Without dy, the guard made his way toward Elena, purposeful and brisk.
Morrison, eager to impress, turned back to N. “No worries, Dr. Vance. You and your mentor are our top priority. No one’s going to ruin your day while I’m around.”
That was when N finally gave him a genuine smile. “Thank you, Mr. Boyd.”
Her arms crossed, N watched Elena with a look that could freeze water.
