?Chapter 1008:
N’s expression was stormy, her lips pressed into a tight line.
Lucinda didn’t hesitate to weigh in. “Oh, look at him. He’s pretending nothing’s wrong, but unease is written all over him. N’s word is as good as gold. Even if the Healer appears, she’ll acknowledge only N as her protégé.”
Another person agreed, nodding. “Dr. Vance wouldn’t lie.”
Davey took in the unwavering loyalty surrounding N at the Base Medical Center and let out a sigh. “All of you have years of experience in medicine, yet you’re letting yourselves be yed by a youngdy. That’s a shame.”
Just as Glenn drew in a breath to retort, Davey added, “The Healer explicitly stated she doesn’t have any protégés.”
The announcement stunned the group. That meant N had been lying all along. Whispers erupted through the crowd.
Studying N carefully, Lamont asked, “N, can you rify what’s happening?”
N’s eyes flickered. With no other way out except sticking to her lies, she twisted the narrative to her advantage. “Deputy Commander Aston, that’s just his im. There’s no proof that the voice on that call belonged to the Healer. However, I invited the Healer to operate on you, and every doctor at the base saw it.”
“That can’t be faked,” she insisted. “Unless he gets the Healer to step up and back up his im, nobody should buy into what he says.”
Agreement rippled through the crowd as N’s exnation seemed to make the most sense. They had watched the Healer perform Lamont’s surgery, yet none of them could confirm whether Davey’s phone call was truly with the Healer.
Withdrawing his gaze with a nod, Lamont turned to Davey. “N’s argument holds up. Dr. Sampson, if you really have a connection with the Healer, ask her to show herself. If you can’t, doubting N’s apprenticeship means disrespecting the Azure Dragon Unit Base.”
The show of support from Lamont bolstered N’s confidence. She doubted Davey could actually invite the Healer over.
Yet, to everyone’s surprise, Davey agreed. His face remained neutral since Elena had already predicted that N wouldn’t admit to lying during the call earlier.
“If you’re serious about meeting the Healer, go find her at the International Advanced Medical Practices Forum,” Davey replied.
Confusion flickered across Lamont’s face. “International Advanced Medical Practices Forum? What’s that?”

Someone from the Base Medical Center provided an answer. “It’s a prestigious annual event in the medical field, hosted by different countries each year. This year, it’s being held in Houis.”
Lamont turned his attention to Davey and inquired, “So, the Healer is expected to appear at this year’s International Advanced Medical Practices Forum?”
Davey confirmed with a simple nod. “That’s correct. Dr. Vance, do you dare to meet the Healer there?”
A hush fell as everyone nced in N’s direction.
Keeping up herposed facade, N replied, “I’ve already been informed by the Healer about the forum. Even if you hadn’t brought it up, I would still attend.”
Lamont, looking thoroughly convinced, shot Davey a look. “Dr. Sampson, you hear that. N’s participation is certain. Once the International Advanced Medical Practices Forum begins, the Healer will publicly acknowledge her as a protégé, putting any doubts to rest for good.”
With a flicker of hesitation, N lowered her gaze. She didn’t have time to think and could only nod along. “Yes, that’s right. The Healer is going to officially take me on as her protégé at the forum.”
Davey found himself genuinely impressed by N’s acting. The way she delivered her lines with such conviction almost made it seem believable. Had he not known the real Healer’s protégé, Elena, he might have fallen for N’s story.
