?Chapter 1006:
To Glenn, Davey was just bitter that the base had someone tied to the Healer while the Hospital had nothing to show.
the Hospital had always looked down on the Base Medical Center, mocking thetter’s methods as backward and ineffective. But now, with someone linked to the Healer, the tide had turned. The Base Medical Center’s reputation was climbing fast, which, in Glenn’s assumption, Davey couldn’t stand. Glenn wasn’t convinced by anything Davey had said.
Davey added, “Why hasn’t Dr. Vance recognized the Healer we’re talking about if her im of being the Healer’s protégé is true?”
Davey was seconds from revealing the truth—that Elena was the real protégé of the Healer—but Elena sent him a small, silent warning with a shake of her head. The words stuck in his throat. He stopped himself. Apparently, Elena didn’t want to reveal her identity.
Like the rest, N assumed Davey’s attitude stemmed from envy. She raised her chin, her tone sharp with contempt. “I am the Healer’s protégé. Of course, I will recognize the Healer if she is here. I’ve treated you with the respect your title deserves, but now you’re using me of lying? You im I don’t know the Healer? Then let’s hear it—do you?”
Davey’s voice remained level. “Yes. I do.”
He didn’t just know the “Healer” they hadvished with praise for saving Lamont. He had watched her do the impossible with his own eyes.
A jolt of panic shot through N as her face turned pale. If Davey truly knew the Healer, her fabricated identity as the Healer’s protégé would crumble instantly.
But Davey didn’t stop there—he delivered a heavier blow. “Aside from knowing the Healer you’ve all raved about, I have her contact numbers,” he said, his voice calm andposed.
N narrowed her eyes, stubbornly clinging to her lies. The Healer’s whereabouts had always been shrouded in secrecy—she never initiated contact. Davey had to be bluffing. There was no chance he could actually reach out to the Healer. And if Davey could, why bothering all the way here just to look for her?
Grasping that thread of logic, N forced herself to stay calm.
Some physicians at the base stepped forward and challenged Davey. “If you’re truly in touch with the Healer, prove it. Make the call.”

“Yeah, if you’re so sure, let’s see it!”
“If you don’t, it only proves you’re bluffing—and bitter that we have a protégé of the Healer among us.”
“The Healer didn’t just choose Dr. Vance as her protégé—the Healer even entrusted her with a dietary supplement. All your bitterness won’t change that.”
N didn’t take her eyes off Davey, carefully watching every twitch of his expression.
Davey cast a nce at Elena, hesitating. He didn’t have Elena’s number. But with Elena—the real person behind the mysterious facade of the Healer everyone in the base raved about—sitting right there, what was the point of making a call? The only trouble was that Elena wanted to keep her identity under wraps.
To the others, though, Davey’s hesitation came off as unease.
“Knew it—he’s faking. Can’t even make the call.”
“Showing up just to cause trouble? Please. We’ve got real talent at the Base Medical Center.”
“You owe Dr. Vance an apology!”
Just then, Davey’s phone buzzed. He nced down and found a message from Elena. He didn’t waste time wondering how she got his number. The second he read the message, his eyes lit up.
