?Chapter 1002:
Around them, the pressure mounted. The hospital staff were closing in with demands for an apology, their voices unrelenting.
Jaw tight, posture sharp, Wesley finally said, “And who exactly does Dr. Vance think she is—to demand an apology from my woman?”
Recognition flickered in Lamont’s eyes. Once under Gerald’smand, he knew exactly who Wesley was. Wesley had built the Spencer Group from the ground up, seized control of the board in his twenties, and was said to rival—even surpass—Gerald’s strategic brilliance.
Sensing the rising tension, Lamont stepped forward, hands raised in an attempt to ease the moment. “Let’s keep this civil. Maybe there’s just been some misunderstanding here.”
But Glenn wasn’t having it. “Deputy Commander Aston, this isn’t about misunderstanding. Insulting a disciple of the Healer is tantamount to insulting the Healer. We can’t ignore that.”
Lamont hesitated when N interjected, her voice soft andposed. “Deputy Commander Aston, please don’t be upset with Mr. Mendoza. He’s only trying to defend me. It’s not a big deal—I’m not hurt. I don’t mind a little offense—it’s not worth disrupting the asion over.”
Her disy of grace only deepened the appreciation in Lamont’s expression. She looked every bit the part—dignified, selfless, exactly how one would imagine a disciple of the legendary Healer to behave. By contrast, Elena seemed stubborn, unyielding, and even petty.
That silent verdict was shared by most of the room. N seemed so kind and gracious, while Elena appeared the thorn among roses.
Glenn’s opinion of Elena plummeted. His tone turned cutting as he looked at her. “Do you hear N? Even now, she’s defending you. And still, you insulted her?”
Wesley’s gaze turned deadly cold. He was about to shut them all down when Elena took a deliberate step forward. Her voice rang clear. “N, are you saying it was you who arranged for the Healer to operate on Deputy Commander Aston?”
Glenn’s face tightened with seriousness as he frowned at Elena. “Why did you even ask something like that? We all witnessed the Healer operate on Deputy Commander Aston with our own eyes. It must be N’s efforts at y. N is the only person on this base with any connection to the Healer. Who else could have brought the Healer here if not her?”
Everyone thought Elena was speaking nonsense.

N shot Elena a contemptuous nce. She had been questioned by Elena before. Back then, she had been flustered, afraid Elena might have uncovered something that could threaten to expose her lies. But now, she was totally unfazed. If there had been any real proof, Elena would have revealed it by now. Elena was only acting out of jealousy, tossing out those calcted words in a weak attempt to rattle her.
Keeping a stern expression, N addressed Elena with what she believed to be firm conviction. “You might dislike me, but that doesn’t give you the right to question my status as the Healer’s protégé. Who else in this base could have invited the Healer to operate on Deputy Commander Aston if not me? You should think before speaking. Jealousy doesn’t give you permission to invent stories. You doubted the Healer was invited over by me. Then tell us, who do you think could pull that off? You?”
The room erupted intoughter following her speech.
“Her? She’s dreaming if she thinks she has that kind of connection.”
“I bet she doesn’t even know who the Healer is, let alone have the ability to bring the Healer here to treat Deputy Commander Aston.”
“A person who knows nothing about medicine is challenging the credibility of the Healer’s protégé? That’s just ridiculous.”
