Chapter 1001

    ?Chapter 1001:

Elena hadn’t missed the way N’s affectionate gaze clung to Wesley. N was such a hypocrite, wielding well-chosen words as a weapon to solidify her kind image in the eyes of the clueless.

Lucinda shot back, “What nonsense are you spouting? What true intentions could N have other than saving people? She’s the Healer’s protégé—stepping up to be a medical officer for everyone at the base just shows her golden heart! You should be grateful, not casting baseless usations. Someone as ungrateful as you hardly deserves her treatment. Don’te crying for her help if you end up sick!”

Lucinda added, “Apologize to N right now! Otherwise, don’t expect any medical help from her in the future!”

Themotion drew quite a bit of attention, with people in the front rows frequently turning to look back.

“And why, exactly, should I apologize to N?” Elena’s head tilted slightly, her lips curling into a quiet, amused smile as her eyes settled on N.

Lucinda’s brow furrowed in disbelief. “Isn’t the reason obvious enough? N is the Healer’s disciple! Who do you think you are? Just because you’re Ellis’s sister doesn’t give you a free pass. Even the Harper family could not afford the consequences of offending the Healer!”

Running out of logical reasons to attack Elena, Lucinda clung to N’s supposed identity as if it gave her authority. She was certain that name-dropping the Healer would instantly shut Elena down.

What Lucinda didn’t know—what none of them knew—was that the Healer they all feared and revered was actually the wife of Elena’s mentor.

At that moment, footsteps echoed through the hallway. Lamont approached first, with Glenn and a cluster of senior doctors trailing behind him.

Glenn’s sharp eyes swept across the scene. “What’s all thismotion? Why is everyone gathering here?”

Lucinda wasted no time. “Mr. Mendoza, this rude woman insulted Dr. Vance!”

Recognition shed across Glenn’s face. He knew Elena, the same young woman who had questioned N not once, but twice, outside the operating room. As far as he was concerned, N bringing the Healer to operate on Lamont validated her status as the Healer’s disciplepletely. Therefore, Elena’s previous argument didn’t hold water, likely stemming from personal spite.

Glenn’s expression turned frosty as he stared at Elena. “You’ve publicly challenged Dr. Vance more than once. I don’t care what your reasons are—this time, you owe her a sincere apology. Compassion and ethics form the backbone of medicine. Personal grudges have no ce here.”

Around them, murmurs began rising from the other doctors.

“You were the one who stopped Dr. Vance from treating Deputy Commander Aston and even went as far as iming her qualifications were fake. And now you’re throwing insults at her all over again? This kind of behavior ispletely out of line!”

“Last time, you managed to slip by without taking responsibility, but that won’t happen now. You’re going to apologize, whether you like it or not.”

“A disciple of the Healer is not someone you can nder without…”

With Glenn backing her, N wore her humility like a costume—well-fitted but not without cracks. A subtle smirk tugged at her lips, betraying her satisfaction. It was as if fate had aligned perfectly for her—the Healer had shown up at the crucial moment, performed the surgery, and vanished before questions could be asked. Now, the entire base believed she was exactly who she imed to be—a chosen disciple of the Healer. Glenn showed her deference, and Lamont looked at her with appreciation. Even if she couldn’t bring Elena down today, she had more than enough influence to make Elena’s stay at the base unbearable.
