Chapter 996

    ?Chapter 996:

Wyatt couldn’t forget those eyes—chilled, distant, and utterly unmoved by anything. His hand darted for his gun, but Elena was faster. She fired a shot, the bullet striking his wrist and knocking the weapon from his grasp.

The gunshot ricocheted through the basement, drawing immediate attention from everyone nearby. Benico pulled out his gun and aimed at Elena, but she didn’t give him the chance to fire.

Bang! Bang! Two quick shots rang out. One bullet hit Benico’s hand, the othernded in his foot.

Elena tore off the mask and revealed herself.

Benico stared at her in shock, wide-eyed and stunned. “Who the hell are you?”

Benico’s eyes widened in shock. This woman couldn’t possibly be the client he was expecting for the deal. He had never met the client in person, but he had been told to expect a frail woman in her forties, suffering from a failing heart and desperately in need of a transnt. That was the only reason the client hade to them. Yet, the beautiful young woman who now stood before him couldn’t be anywhere near forty.

Suspicion filled Benico. None of this added up. Why would someone this stunning go to such lengths to impersonate the client—especially when she somehow knew every detail, down to the code and meeting time?

With a flick of her wrist, Elena discarded her mask, shing an icy smile. “I’m not here for your deal. I came to make sure none of you leave alive.”

Before anyone could react, she stepped over to the ss enclosure and released the two imprisoned women. “Are you able to move?” she asked, her voice low but urgent.

The two women, clinging to the slimmest thread of hope, forced themselves to stay conscious. One leaned against the wall and slowly pushed herself to her feet. “I think so,” she said.

Elena nodded and turned to face the approaching gangsters. She shoved open the basement door and slipped behind a row of pirs, turning the cluttered space to her advantage as she faced the gang head-on.

Her marksmanship was wless—every shot found its target. Spent shell casings scattered across the floor, mixing with the growing number of dead bodies.

The building’s locked doors and cramped spaces gave Elena the advantage. It took only minutes for her to wipe out the gang.

Outside, rain drizzled, and the scent of blood in the air was far stronger than when she had first arrived.

Elena waited in the lobby, her grip loose around the pistol in her hand. An uneasy silence swept through the space. The two women she had just freed crept forward, their movements stiff and uncertain. Huddled together, they stared at Elena with wide, tearful eyes.

“Thank you,” one managed to whisper, her voice shaking.

A cold, dangerous calm radiated from Elena, and the women instinctively kept their distance. Her voice was ice-cold. “Leave now. Say nothing about today. Not a word to anyone.”

Without hesitating, the women nodded and hurried toward the exit, relief breaking across their faces as the danger faded behind them.

Elena stepped outside and immediately spotted Wesley casually leaning by the entrance. He held a cigarette loosely, his face unreadable. Wisps of smoke drifted upward, casting shifting shadows across his features.

She came to a halt, meeting his gaze without looking away.

Silently, Wesley flicked his cigarette to the ground and walked up to her.

Not a single word passed between them.
