Chapter 974

    ?Chapter 974:

Wesley said nothing, his lips pressed into a firm line. He knew this wasn’t the real reason behind Gerald’s urgency.

And just as he predicted, Gerald continued, “Did Elena go with you to the base?”

With a small nod, Wesley confirmed it, keeping his expression unreadable.

Gerald leaned in, clearly irritated by Wesley’s calmness. “If you’re serious about Elena, you’d better act like it. Kason’s there too, and ording to Kirby, Kason’s got more than a passing interest in her. Keep dragging your heels, and you’ll lose your chance.”

No doubt about it—Gerald was aching for Wesley to settle down and start a family. In his mind, Wesley had every advantage: charm, power, looks. But when it came to matters of romance? He might as well have been made of stone.

For years, Gerald had watched his grandson dodge every attempt at matchmaking, leaving him perpetually disappointed. But now? Finally, there was Elena. She had brains, grace, and just enough fire to challenge Wesley’s cold demeanor. To him, she wasn’t just suitable—she was ideal. The kind of woman who could anchor Wesley and bring him home for good. If he’d known Wesley had feelings for Elena, he never would’ve introduced her to Kirby in the first ce.

Kason wasn’t just polished and well-mannered—rumor had it he was already a major general. In Gerald’s eyes, that made him a formidable rival for Wesley.

Now that Elena and Kason were stationed at the same base, the chance for their rtionship to grow had only increased. This possibility left Gerald deeply unsettled, which was exactly why he had summoned Wesley back.

“Are you even listening? If you’re serious about her, go after her. I’ll personally speak with the Harper family and start the wedding talks!”

Wesley hadn’t expected to be dragged home in the dead of night for this. A quiet sigh escaped him. “Had you not pulled me back tonight, I might’ve already sealed the deal.”

Gerald’s eyes narrowed, his tone turning sharp. “What’s that supposed to mean? Are you saying I’m in your way? Let me tell you now—if you lose her, I won’t sit back quietly.”

Pushing himself up from the chair, Wesley responded coolly, “The doctor said your sleep schedule needs to stay consistent. It’ste. You should turn in.”

He had barely taken a step when Gerald’s voice cut through again. “Before you go—handle the chaos stirring inside thepany. Things have been offtely.”

There was a slight pause before Wesley answered evenly, “I’ll take care of it.”

As soon as Wesley exited Spencer Manor, he dialed Felix’s number.

Despite the hour, Felix picked up immediately. “Mr. Spencer?”

“What’s Joseph been doingtely?” Wesley asked, his voice steady but clipped.

After a brief pause, Felix replied, “He’s beenying low. Nothing’s raised any rms so far. Is there an issue I should know about, sir?”

Wesley didn’t borate. “Have someone keep an eye on him.”

The edge in Felix’s voice returned. “Got it. I’ll handle it right away.” Without another word, Wesley hung up.

Outside, Arion was already stationed by the car, holding the door open. “Returning to the base, Mr. Spencer?”

Sliding into the backseat, Wesley shook his head. “No. We’ve got another stop.”

After giving Arion the address, Wesley said nothing more, and the car pulled smoothly into the night without hesitation.

Wesley wasn’t around, so Elena made her way to the cafeteria for something to eat. She grabbed a tray, found an empty seat, and settled in to enjoy her meal in peace. But just as she began, someone slid into the seat across from her.
