?Chapter 823:
The agents shared a quiet exchange, voices low but serious. After hearing the paparazzi’s exnation, their ignorance of Ellis’s identity became obvious.
As the head of multiple ssified initiatives under the National Research Institute, Ellis was under direct protection from the National Security Bureau. His presence in those photos was no minor matter.
In their pursuit of profitable shots of Elena, the paparazzi had identally stumbled across Ellis, whose identity was never meant to be exposed. This mistake had drawn the attention of the Bureau—and brought with it usations far more serious than they ever expected. Once it became clear this was a simple case of misidentification, the agents sternly warned the paparazzi before letting them go.
Shaken and bewildered, the paparazzi left the detention center in silence. What had started as a quick cash grab had nearlynded them behind bars. That night, they swore off paparazzi work for good.
Elena and Ellis dropped by the hospital to check on Kiera before heading back to Hillside Manor.
ncing up at the rearview mirror, Elena noticed something odd. The cars that had been tailing them nonstop were nowhere to be seen. Ellis caught the subtle movement of her eyes.
“Something bothering you?” he asked.
Turning away from the mirror, she gave a light shrug. “It’s nothing.” She figured the paparazzi must’ve gotten bored or tired of following them. Maybe they just realized it wasn’t worth the effort.
What she didn’t know was that Ellis had also noted the paparazzi’s presence a while earlier. From their current absence, he knew they had already been handled.
Shifting her focus, Elena recalled her ns for the following day. “I need to go to Foiclens Hospital. Do you happen to know a goodwyer?”
Without missing a beat, Ellis nodded. “I’ll have someone reach out to you.”

Her lips curved into a small, grateful smile. “Thanks, Ellis.”
Following Ellis’s suggestion, Elena made up her mind—this time, she would lean on her family’s help to handle things. The people who crossed the line would face the consequences through thew.
Ellis was incredibly efficient. By nightfall, thewyer had already contacted Elena.
Elena nned to visit Foiclens Hospital with thewyer the following morning. Now that the whirlwind online bacsh had finally settled, only one mess remained: Sylvia’s dramatic usation, iming that Elena had caused her miscarriage.
Elena didn’t bother offering any exnation. She simply passed everything straight to thewyer instead.
Foiclens Hospital kept Sylvia’s medical records, but Elena had been in the during that time. How could she have possibly done anything to hurt Sylvia?
Morning came, and Elena and thewyer arrived at the hospital. The records office wasn’t hard to find, but it looked deserted except for one nurse.
Elena knocked on the door. “Hi, I’m here to request someone’s medical file.”
The nurse, with earbuds in ce, was glued to a TV show ying on her phone, a tub of popcorn sitting untouched on the desk. She didn’t so much as nce in Elena’s direction.
