    Catching sight of Evelyn in the dress, Louis said, “Wow, Evelyn, that dress looks fantastic. Is it new? It’s quite stylish and chic, though it looks a tad snug. Perhaps a bigger size next time?”


    Louis intended hisment as praise, yet it only soured Evelyn’s mood further. Was she really that fat? The dress was just a little snug, but it wasn’t like she couldn’t wear it!


    Louis, still grinning, was quickly brought back to reality by Elena. “That’s the dress you asked for.”


    “What?” Louis’s grin faded. “That’s the one I asked for? How did Evelyn end up in it?”


    With a knowing, mocking grin, Elena left the question hanging for Evelyn to answer.


    Louis frowned. “Evelyn, that dress you’re wearing—why? It was specifically designed by Elena at my request. If you liked it so much, you should have asked her yourself. Don’t spoil the piece I had reserved.”


    Louis was at a loss for words. The dress had been intended as a special present for Kiera, who hadn’t yet had the opportunity to try it on. Now, it had already been donned by Evelyn. How could he possibly offer it to Kiera now that it had been worn by someone else? Evelyn had always appeared so reasonable before. What had happened to her? Was this her true self showing?


    The look of disapproval on Louis’s face was clear, and Evelyn experienced a surge of embarrassment, desiring nothing more than to vanish into thin air. This actually was the dress Louis had requested. Why hadn’t that cunning Elena pointed it out before?
