    Ever since then, Fannie had been desperately hoping Elena would whip up another design for her. But Elena always refused.


    This current opportunity was just too good for Fannie to let slip through her fingers.


    Fannie softened her tone. “Elena, my new collection is missing a top-tier piece. How about you team up with me and create one? You haven’t sketched anything in forever. Don’t you want to give it a shot?”


    “Not interested,” Elena shot back, no hesitation in her voice.


    Fannie didn’t back down, though. Elena had said no, but maybe next time she’d bite. “Elena, whenever you’re ready to make your bigeback, just let me know. We’ll drop a cob, and we’ll be rolling in cash!”


    As they whispered below the stage, the bouquet toss had already begun up above.


    “Elena, aren’t you gonna join in on the fun?” Fannie asked, her voice light.


    Elena wasn’t interested in that nonsense.


    Ste, on the other hand, was all in and had already imed the prime spot right behind Evelyn.


    With a strong toss from Evelyn, Ste snagged the bouquet in one smooth motion.


    Someone joked, “Ste, you caught the bouquet! That means you’re next to get married. Got anyone special in mind yet?”


    “Ste’s amazing. The guy she picks must be just as top-notch.”


    “So when are you bringing him around to meet us?”

    Between all the teasing, Ste’s eyes locked onto Wesley. Only the best of the best was worthy of her. She was sure—she and Wesley were a match made in heaven.


    Someone caught where Ste was looking and made a sly guess. With a yful shove, they nudged her toward Wesley.


    Ste could’ve kept her bnce, but she decided to let herself stumble toward Wesley anyway.


    But before she even came close to him, she tripped and fell t on the ground. Wesley had somehow gotten to his feet without her noticing. Sitting on the floor, Ste’s face turned beet-red with humiliation, her mind simmering with resentment at how Wesley had shown zero chivalry.


    Wesley didn’t even spare her a single nce. His face turned cold, as if she wasn’t even there. He shrugged off his jacket and threw it aside like it was nothing.


    The way he acted hit Ste like a punch to the gut. He actually found her repulsive!


    Ste, being the stubborn mule she was, extended her hand to Wesley, batting her eyshes. “Wesley, I think I’ve twisted my ankle. Could you be a dear and help me up?”
