?Chapter 1123:
From my position atop the wall, I observed the unfolding scene with outward coldness that barely masked my inner turmoil of shock and confusion.
“Makenna,” Leonardo began, his voice deliberately slow and dripping with smug satisfaction. “This is your father, Connolly! Surely you wouldn’t wish to witness his death, would you?”
As his words fell upon the air, Connolly suddenly jerked his head upward to meet my gaze. His eyes swam with raw desperation as he cried out, “Makenna… save me! I’m your father! You can’t simply stand there and watch me die!”
I fixed Leonardo with a piercing stare, my voice carved from ice. “What exactly is the meaning of this disy?”
Leonardo’s lips twisted into a triumphant smirk as he proimed loudly for all to hear, “Makenna, surrender yourself and I’ll grant freedom to Connolly and the others! Refuse, and they’ll die where they stand today!”
A mocking smile yed across my lips as I responded with cutting disdain, “Leonardo, surely Connolly has already revealed the truth to you by now? This man isn’t even my true father. He’s the very monster who murdered my mother. I’ve longed for his death! Do you honestly believe I would surrender myself for such a man?”
At my words, Leonardo’s face transformed instantly, darkening with unbridled fury that seemed to radiate from his very being.
He lunged forward, viciously kicking Connolly to the ground with savage force. “Connolly Dunn! How dare you withhold something so crucial from me? Why didn’t you reveal earlier that she already knows the entire truth?”
Makenna’s POV:
“Ah! Your Majesty, spare me!” Connolly’s desperate cries shattered the air as merciless blows rained upon him. Crimson droplets seeped from the corner of his mouth, creating dark pools on the unforgiving stone ground. A pathetic sight, truly.
The spectacle unfolded before me, yet my heart remained as cold as winter’s edge. Without lingering, I pivoted on my heel to depart.

“Makenna, stop right there!” Leonardo’s voice sliced through the chaos, freezing me mid-step.
A pause, and then I threw him a nce—fleeting and empty. My words fell with measured calm, almost dismissive. “Your Majesty, what else do you want now?”
His prating stare drilled into me, dark eyes churning with barely contained rage. usation dripped from every syble as he demanded, “Who is your mother?”
Against his furious gaze, ughter bubbled from my lips—mocking, scornful. “Why should I tell you?”
Darkness swept across Leonardo’s features, fury igniting like wildfire in his eyes.
In one fluid motion, he seized a dagger from a guard’s belt and crossed to Connolly. Swift and savage, the de carved flesh from Connolly’s side.
“Ah!” Blood burst from the wound, and Connolly’s agonized shriek tore through the air, raw with torment.
“Makenna Dunn!” Leonardo’s eyes burned as he bellowed, transformed into a raving beast. “Connolly may not be your real father, but he cared for you and raised you! Are you really going to stand there and watch him be tortured to death?”
Rooted to the spot, ice crawled through my veins.
