?Chapter 1106:
“No… Jett, you can’t leave me! I won’t survive without you!”
Out of nowhere, a fist came flying toward Jett.
I stood rooted to the spot, shock rippling through my body as the reality of what had just transpired sank in. Before I could gather my wits, Jett moved with liquid grace, effortlessly sidestepping the punch aimed at his face.
Surprisingly, anger didn’t cloud his features. Instead, a spark of mischief danced in his eyes.
From nearby, Alden flexed his wrist and admonished him with thinly veiled irritation. “Jett! I witnessed everything from a distance—you cleverly concealed those pills in your sleeve! You never took them at all! And now you’re putting on this death’s-door performance for sympathy?”
Jett didn’t take the pills?
Disbelief froze me in ce as I whirled toward Jett, my eyes widening. “But I distinctly saw you swallow them. Was I somehow mistaken?”
Jett shifted ufortably, blinking. “Actually… I merely pretended to swallow them. I palmed the pills before anyone could notice.”
In that heartbeat, the crushing guilt that had been weighing on me evaporatedpletely. White-hot anger surged through me as I fixed him with a withering re.
I stamped my foot against the ground, words tumbling out in frustrated bursts. “You deliberately tricked me, leaving me sick with worry! You’re absolutely insufferable!”
With that deration hanging in the air, I wrenched my gaze away and refused to acknowledge him.
Witnessing my reaction, Jett quickly banished his smile. “I’m sorry.”
I shrugged away from his touch, maintaining my indignant silence while keeping my face averted.

Jett exhaled softly but offered no further exnation.
When we returned to the main building of the vineyard, the earlier incident had thoroughly extinguished any enthusiasm we’d had for winemaking.
Everyone huddled together in the main hall, a somber cloud hovering over the gathering.
Dominic’s face remained etched with gravity as he assessed the situation with measured words. “The Wizard n’s ability to infiltrate this ce suggests they’ve been conducting surveince on Jett for quite some time. Jett, moving forward, you…”
must exercise extreme caution and avoid providing them with another opening.” Jett responded with a solemn nod.
Bryan lowered himself onto the seat beside me, fixing Jett with an icy stare as he delivered his warning. “Jett, throw your own life away if you must, but don’t ever entangle Makenna in your mess again. Otherwise, don’t expect civility from any of us.”
Jett bowed his head in shame, his voice dropping to a resonant murmur. “I give you my word, I will never again allow Makenna to face any danger.”
The atmosphere congealed around us, as if time itself had crystallized into something tangible and oppressive.
Unease fluttered wildly in my chest as I cast a desperate look toward Alden, silently pleading for intervention.
