Chapter 1074

    ?Chapter 1074:

“The situation has be dire,” Dayton announced, his voice cutting through the stillness. “Jett has initiated work on the antidote. However, the number of poisoned victims in Marehelm continues to climb. For now, we can only hope the white wolves’ healing abilities can alleviate their suffering enough to buy us the time we desperately need.”

His words pierced my heart like a de, and I caught my lower lip between my teeth, fighting against the creeping sense of hopelessness threatening to overwhelm me.

The antidote remained firmly in the Wizard n’s possession, and their rtionship with werewolves had always been like oil and water—fundamentally ipatible elements destined to repel one another.

What recourse would remain should Jett fail to synthesize the cure?

The very thought filled me with dread, my brows knitting together as despair settled heavy in my chest.

Dayton released a weary sigh, his troubled gaze sweeping across the three princes before he asked, “Your Highnesses, what about the situation in the werewolf forest? Should knowledge of the white wolves’ escape reach the king’s ears, his forgiveness will surely note easily. Our predicament would grow exponentially more perilous.”

His words only intensified the suffocating tension permeating the hall.

I lifted my gaze toward the three princes, awaiting their response with bated breath.

Bryan’s response exuded calm authority. With a defiant tilt of his chin, he addressed Dayton. “Mr. Pierce, these matters require no further worry from you. I’ve dispatched Amon to manage the aftermath in the werewolf forest. He’ll ensure our rescue of the white wolves remains shrouded in secrecy, well beyond the king’s prying eyes.”

Relief softened the edges of Dayton’s tense expression, though concern still creased his brow.

After a contemtive pause, he cleared his throat delicately. His gaze swept across the assembled faces before he posed the crucial question. “Has anyone devised a viable strategy for acquiring the antidote?”

“My solution is straightforward—we should mobilize our forces and seize the antidote directly!” Bryan dered, arching a single eyebrow as he folded his arms across his chest, impatience radiating from his posture.

“Absolutely not!” Dominic countered with a firm shake of his head, his forehead creasing in disapproval.

With measured reasoning, he continued, “That suggestion is probably not wise. Our forces are woefully inadequate to directly challenge the Wizard n’s might. Moreover, the vulnerable poption of Marehelm—the elderly, infirm, and weakened—cannot withstand the devastating aftermath of armed conflict, nor participate in battle themselves. Their safety must remain our paramount concern.”

Bryan’s face darkened with irritation at Dominic’s words, but he held his tongue.

Silence fell over the hall once more, the atmosphere growing heavier by the second.

yton broke the ufortable quiet. “Since direct confrontation isn’t viable, perhaps we should negotiate with the Wizard n. There’s a slight chance they might provide us with the antidote.”

I frowned at yton’s suggestion. “That seems highly improbable. The hatred between the wizards and werewolves runs too deep—they’re unlikely to grant our request for the antidote. The odds are simply against us.”
