Chapter 1056

    ?Chapter 1056:

Rowell let out another darkugh, his face contorting with twisted excitement, as though he’d just discovered something delightfully sinister. His eyes closed briefly, savoring the moment. “You entered the werewolf forest for those dying white wolves, didn’t you? Thanks to them, I can recognize white wolves’ blood.”

His words sent a cold shiver through me, and an uneasy dread began to swell in my chest. Rowell must know what those white wolves had suffered.

Fury surged through me, impossible to hold back. “You monster! What did you do to them? They never wronged you—why torment them like this?”

My outburst sent a wave of anger through Rowell. His face contorted with rage, and his grip constricted around my throat, cutting off my breath.

ring at me, he whispered with a voice that seemed toe from hell itself, “Once you’re dead, I’ll dly share the details. You can ask those white wolves yourself… in the afterlife.”

    Makenna’s POV:

Rowell’s grasp tightened around my throat, his fingers like mps, stealing my breath with every passing second. The world around me started to haze, though I could still faintly discern the worried expressions of the three princes from the edge of my vision. Their gazes burned with fury and frustration, as if locked behind an unseen barrier, powerless to reach me.

“Rowell Mitchell, let her go now, or I’ll make sure you pay dearly!” yton’s voice sliced through the air, cold and menacing, ced with a promise of retribution.

The three princes lunged forward, trying to push past the soldiers’ unyielding line, but the guards stood firm, an immovable fortress blocking their path.

A fierce instinct to live red inside me. Gritting my teeth, I thrashed with every ounce of energy I had, wing at Rowell’s hands and driving my heels into him with all my force. My fingernails sank into his flesh, but his power dwarfed mine, making my resistance feel futile.

Slowly, my energy drained. My body grew limp, and my mind started to slip away. The scene before me warped, the princes’ forms dissolving into vague shadows. It was as if I were tumbling into a bottomless void, silence pressing in, broken only by the faint thud of my weakening pulse.

Rowell leaned close to my ear, his breath carrying a nauseating stench. His words slithered into my ear like a venomous hiss. “Perish! Your death alone will bring peace to the werewolf n!”

A tide of hopelessness crashed over me. Was this truly my end?

My thoughts drifted to the remaining members of my n, still counting on my rescue, and to Marehelm’s innocent people, tormented by the poisonous magic potion. Yet here I was, unable to protect anyone.

Just as surrender crept in, teetering on the edge of oblivion, the pendant resting against my chest erupted in a blinding sh.

The sudden light seared Rowell’s eyes, forcing a cry from his lips as he recoiled, his hold on me breaking.

Freed from his grip, I crumpled to the ground, gasping in relief but utterly spent. The chaos around me blurred, battle cries ringing distantly in my ears. Shadows swallowed my sight, and my awareness slipped away until I sank into unconsciousness.

When I regained consciousness once again, my eyelids fluttered open, heavy and slow, revealing an endless expanse of pristine white. A serene stillness bathed the space, soft light glowing in every direction. My body felt frail, and I struggled to prop myself up.
