?Chapter 1027:
Makenna’s POV:
At that moment, an unseen shadow seemed to cloak the room, enveloping it in a suffocating silence. The three princes locked their eyes on me, their gazes brimming with concern and gentle affection.
I was on the verge of stepping forward to offer my blood to Jett when a sudden, vital realization hit me like a bolt from the blue. My face flushed with mortification, and I cast an uneasy nce toward Maia and Dayton.
The pair, sensing my unspoken thoughts, exchanged a knowing nce. Dayton gave a subtle nod and shed a warm smile. “Cody has met his end, and Marehelm’s affairs are crying out for attention. We’ll take our leave now.”
With that, they offered the princes a courteous farewell and slipped out, the door clicking shut behind them.
I drew a shaky breath, my pulse still racing like a wild stallion. Hesitantly, I murmured, “There’s something… I need to confess.” My voice was so soft it barely reached my own ears.
Bryan strode forward with a yful grin and flicked my forehead lightly. “Quit dancing around it, out with it already!”
I cleared my throat, struggling to steady my nerves, and dropped my gaze, unable to meet their eyes. “Well… Jett and I… we’ve both been affected by an aphrodisiac potion. The slightest brush of skin sets it aze. Last time, when Jett and I plunged into the sea, he was gravely wounded. I gave him my blood, not knowing it would fan the potion’s mes—and it only made the effects burn hotter.”
The more I exined, the quieter my voice grew, my cheeks zing like a summer sunset. I half-wished the ground would swallow me whole. “So… offering Jett my blood again might unleash the potion’s full force.”
I blurted the final words in a rush, summoning every ounce of bravery I had left.
No sooner had I spoken than the three princes, as if in perfect harmony, cried out together, “No, never!”

Bryan’s face darkened, a frost seeming to settle over his features, his eyes flickering with fury and frustration. “Makenna, letting you save Jett with your blood was already the line we couldn’t cross!”
Dominic’s gaze darkened, a tempest swirling in his eyes. He fixed me with an intense, icy stare, his voice a low growl. “Makenna, you’re my mate! How could I stand idly by while you entwine with another? I won’t have it!”
yton’s expression was etched with grief, his lips trembling as if words hovered on the tip of his tongue but refused to spill. Atst, he met my gaze, his look deep and pleading, before sighing, “Isn’t there any other path?”
I bowed my head slowly, unable to meet their stares, tears pooling in my eyes.
“If Jett hadn’t stepped in, I’d still be trapped in Cody’s cruel grip…” I brushed the tears away and continued, “Jett’s thrown himself into danger for me time and again. I can’t just stand by and let him perish.”
The room sank into a heavy, awkward silence, each prince wearing a mask of his own emotions, yet none breaking the stillness.
After what felt like an eternity, I gathered the strength to look at Dominic, my throat tight with anguish. “Dominic, if you truly can’t bear this, we can sever the mate bond. I’ll cut all ties with you—with all of you. I have to save Jett.”
The words tore from me like a dagger through my heart, but I knew it was a crossroads I couldn’t avoid.
