?Chapter 1024:
When they returned, they were carrying Jett, his body covered in blood. They carefullyid him on the ground before us.
Jett’s eyes were shut, hisplexion as pale as death. His breath was so faint that his chest barely moved.
My knees buckled, and I almost fell. My voice trembled as I whispered, “This is my doing… Jett is hurt because of me… If he hadn’t been trying to save me, he wouldn’t be in this condition…”
I mumbled, reaching out to pull the dagger from his chest.
The moment my fingers touched the hilt, yton seized my wrist.
“Makenna, stop!” His expression was stern, his tone firm. “Removing that dagger will kill Jett immediately! We need to transport him to the city for medical attention, right now!”
I froze. My hand hovered mid-air, and my heart filled with anguish. I looked up at yton, tears choking my voice. “Please, do something… He must be saved…”
Without saying another word to me, yton ordered the soldiers, “Quick, take him back! Now!”
Then, he looked back at me with a soft expression, gently squeezing my wrist. “Makenna, it’s not safe here. Let me take you back.”
Surrounded by yton and the soldiers, I hesitantly turned away, my thoughts consumed by Jett’s plight. I couldn’t help but nce back, worried about the ongoing battle.
Then, a piercing howl cut through the noise.
I quickly turned toward themotion. Cody was clearly losing ground against Bryan and Dominic. Bryan delivered a powerful blow, knocking him to the ground. Codynded hard, spitting out blood. His form shifted back to human, revealing his battered and bruised body.
Bryan, now in human form as well, stepped closer to Cody, his gaze filled with cold contempt. “Cody, did you really think you could win? We’ve been setting you up from the start. You were always going to lose.”

Dominic moved to stand beside Bryan. His face was stern, his eyes cold. “Cody, give up. Tell us about your dealings with the Wizard n, and maybe we’ll spare your life.”
But even on the brink of death, Cody refused to surrender.
He wiped the blood from his mouth with the back of his hand and scoffed coldly. “Give up? Never! I’d rather die than let you have that pleasure!”
His smile twisted into a scowl. “Moreover, I have a surprise waiting for Marehelm. It will soon engulf the entire city and cast everyone into unending torment! Hahaha…”
A sense of dread overwhelmed me, sending a shiver down my spine. Before I could even react, Cody’s eyes widened. Summoning his werewolf power, he triggered the destruction of his own heart. A muffled boom echoed as Cody’s body exploded, scattering blood and gore all around.
I stood frozen, struggling toprehend the horror I had just witnessed.
Cody was… dead?
His maniacalughter still echoed in my ears, yet he was no more.
I tried to speak, but my legs grew heavy, and my vision blurred. An intense wave of exhaustion swept through me. Everything turned ck, and I copsed into unconsciousness.
