Chapter 1023

    ?Chapter 1023:

“No!” I shrieked, my voice raw and ragged, wing its way out of me. The sight choked the air from my lungs.

But the moment unfolded too swiftly. My cries were swept away like brittle leaves on the wind, swallowed by the unrelenting tide of reality.

The dagger sank deep into Jett’s chest, blood spraying forth in a ghastly bloom.

“Hahaha.” Cody’sughter erupted, a wild, grating cackle that reverberated through the deste expanse, steeped in malice. “No matter your clever tricks, you’re no match for me! This isn’t Marehelm anymore—I can slip away with my men whenever I please. Mark my words, I’ll return to settle the score!”

Before his taunts had fully spilled forth, Jett’s form crumpled, a marite severed from its strings, copsing to the earth with a dull thud.

“Jett!” I wailed, lunging forward in a frantic bid to reach him, clinging to the faintest thread of hope that I might still save him.

But yton’s arms tightened around me like iron bands, stopping every thrash and twist as I tried to break free.

“Let me go! I have to save him!” I sobbed, tears clouding my vision into a watery haze, my chest aching with unbearable sorrow. Cody’sughter slowly dwindled as he and his forces retreated into the distance.

Then, a mor of footsteps thundered from afar. My heart jolted, and I snapped my gaze upward to see a band of soldiers charging forward, led by Amon—long absent, now a sudden beacon of hope.

Cody’splexion nched as Amon’s troop blocked his escape. He bellowed in defiance, unwilling to bow. “An ambush? Have you no shred of honor?”

Amon’s lips curled into a cold smirk, his tone as cutting as frost. “Cody Harrison, yield now, and you might spare yourself utter disgrace.”

But Cody’s mind had unraveled, plunging into a frenzied abyss. “I’d sooner perish today than grovel!” he roared, his bloodshot eyes zing, his voice a thunderous peal that shook the skies.

In an instant, both armies shed their human forms, morphing into towering wolves—sleek-furred titans with razor-sharp fangs. They collided with guttural snarls, tearing into one another in a savage melee.

The air thrummed with howls, the sh of teeth, and the crunch of bone, blood painting the battlefield in grim streaks of carnage.

Bryan and Dominic, too, shifted into their wolf forms, their piercing howls slicing through the heavens. Like bolts of lightning, they streaked into the fray, fearless and fierce.

yton still held me in his embrace, shielding me from the swirling chaos.

“Release me! I must save Jett!” I fought with every fiber of my being, my thoughts consumed by Jett’s well-being. My gaze was locked on his still form in the distance, aching to dash to his side and see if he still clung to life.

    Makenna’s POV:

“Let me go! Jett is still over there! I’m not sure whether he’s dead or alive. I must help him!”

I struggled fiercely, trying to break free from yton’s powerful grip, but it was futile. His strength was overwhelming.

“No! It’s too dangerous. You can’t go over there!” yton’s face showed deep concern as he turned to the soldiers beside him andmanded, “You all, move out! Take advantage of the chaos and bring Jett back here, immediately!”

The soldiers sprinted off without hesitation, heading straight to the spot where Jett had fallen. I watched them intently.
