?Chapter 1016:
Tears welled up in my eyes instantly. Looking at the princes standing there with their grave expressions, I felt a crushing weight of guilt and self-me.
“Your Highnesses…” I choked out, my voice breaking with emotion. “It’s all my fault for being careless, dragging you into this and causing the n to go awry… If only I had been a bit more clever, maybe things wouldn’t have turned out this way.”
“Don’t waste your tears,” Cody interrupted with a coldugh. “You’ll have all the time to cryter. Soon, all four of you will be descending into hell together!”
In that moment, Dominic raised his hand, and the soldiers behind him moved swiftly into formation. They raised their bows, arrows aimed directly at Cody.
“Release her now, and you might still have a chance to live,” Dominic’s voice cut through the air like a de of ice. “Otherwise, I will ensure you disappear without a trace!”
Codyughed wildly, his eyes gleaming with a madness that showed no trace of fear. Hisughter died abruptly as he lunged forward, viciously grabbing a fistful of my hair and yanking me in front of him like a human shield.
“Shoot your arrows!” Cody shouted, his face contorting with malice.
“Let’s see who dies first!”
“Ah!” I cried out in pain, my scalp burning as if it were being torn from my skull. Each whimper that escaped my lips seemed to fuel Cody’s twisted excitement, hisughter growing more arrogant with my suffering.
The three princes’ eyes shed with a vtile mixture of urgency and fury.
“Cody, stop it now!” yton finally erupted, veins bulging prominently on his forehead as he shouted, barely containing his rage.
Bryan, meanwhile, had already drawn his bow in one fluid motion, his aim unwavering as he pointed the arrow toward us.
Yet Cody remainedpletely unfazed, standing with the confidence of a man who knew he held the winning hand. With me as his shield, he believed the princes were powerless to act.

He snorted disdainfully and waved his hand. Like a rushing storm, the soldiers he brought surged forward, surrounding us in an imprable circle of gleaming weapons and hardened faces.
Without warning, Cody reached out and mped his hand around my throat.
My breath caught instantly as his fingers dug into my flesh. I wed desperately at his iron grip, each attempt to pry his fingers away growing weaker as precious air escaped me.
“Either you all surrender your werewolf powers today, withdraw your armies from Marehelm, and hand theplete control of the city over to me,” Cody said coldly, his predatory gaze never leaving the three princes, “or she dies! Make your choice!”
Refusing to be silenced, I gathered thest embers of my courage and red at Cody with all the defiance I could muster. “Stop dreaming!” Hearing my words, Cody didn’t get angry. Instead, his lips curled into a mocking smile that sent chills down my spine.
“Makenna, since you’re a white wolf, don’t you know that the current Lycan royal family is nothing but impostors? What I’m doing is avenging the white wolves and the true Lycan royal family that perished. How can you be so ungrateful?”
Makenna’s POV:
The instant Cody dered that the current Lycan royal family was nothing but impostors, a hush fell over the crowd, thick and suffocating.
