Chapter 1012

    ?Chapter 1012:

    Oddly, there was no response.

A flicker of unease crept in as I hesitated outside her door. Should I go in?

After a brief pause, I turned the knob and slowly pushed it open.

The room was empty. The bed was perfectly made and untouched.

A sharp sense of dread tightened in my chest.

Just then, a servant passed by the door. I stepped out quickly, grabbing his arm. “Have you seen Ailyn? Do you know where she went?”

The man shook his head in confusion. “I’m sorry, Mr. Burton. I haven’t seen Mrs. Burton this morning.”

My frown deepened. The unease settled in, growing heavier.

Had she gone to meet those three princes?

The thought lodged itself in my mind, and the more I considered it, the more likely it seemed. I had known for some time that Makenna secretly visited them at the hotel. I had never confronted her about it.

A bitter weight pressed against my ribs as the thoughts dominated.

She was an adult, free to do as she liked. I had no right to interfere. And yet, standing in this empty room, knowing where she might be, left me hollow.

By the time I reached the dining room, Dayton and Maia were already at the table. Maia nced up, her expression soft with concern as she noticed I was alone.

“Where’s Makenna? She’s not joining us?”

I mustered a strained smile, though it felt more agonizing than shedding tears. My voice was rough and unsteady. “She went out. I think she might be with the three princes.”

Maia didn’t look surprised, as if she had already known about Makenna’s rtionship with them. Her brows pulled together slightly as she sighed. “Are you sure those three…”

“Can they be trusted? What if they’re just stringing her along? People’s intentions are rarely straightforward. It’s hard to know what truly drives them.”

I pulled out a chair and sat down, keeping my tone even. “Makenna trusts them, and that’s enough. Besides, I’ve seen firsthand how devoted they are to her.”

Before I could say more, a sharp scoff cut through the room.

We turned to see Bryan, his head tilted slightly, his expression dripping with condescension. His voice carried a mocking edge. “For once, you’re actually making sense.”

The three princes strode into the dining room, but I barely spared them a nce.

Instead, my focus darted past them, searching for Makenna. She wasn’t there.

A crease formed between my brows. “Where’s Makenna? Didn’t shee with you?”

Bryan halted, momentarily caught off guard before asking, “Makenna’s not here?”

    Jett’s POV:

Panic gripped me as I abruptly stood, my voice betraying my fears. “Oh no! Makenna’s not here, either. She could be in trouble!”

Maia’s face drained of color before I even finished speaking, worry etched in her eyes. The three princes’ expressions turned grave, the tension palpable.

Rising quickly to his feet, Dayton addressed the nearby butler, his tone stern. “Bring me the guards who patrolledst night, immediately!”
