?Chapter 1002:
Maia nodded and smiled.
After ensuring Maia and Dayton were prepared, I returned to my room. The worries of the past few days had left me exhausted and in need of rest.
As soon as I entered my room, I sank wearily onto a couch.
Jett, who had been by my side all along, sat next to me and said, “Once Cody is captured and we sessfully enter the werewolf forest, it’ll all be over. You’ll finally be able to rest.”
Would it really be over?
Would everything go as smoothly as nned?
These thoughts ran rampant in my head. Finally, I smiled and replied, “Let’s hope so.”
My eyes suddenly caught on something behind Jett’s ear.
There, behind Jett’s ear, was a birthmark I had never noticed before.
“What is that? I’ve never seen it before,” I asked curiously, pointing at the mark.
Jett stiffened, and a look of panic crossed his face.
Before I could ask any further questions, Jett quickly took out a potion and applied it to the birthmark. “It’s… it’s nothing, just a birthmark.”
From his action, it was obvious he was trying to hide something.
It became increasingly clear that the birthmark concealed a secret. Curiously, I said, “It’s just a birthmark, right? Why are you trying to cover it up?”
Makenna’s POV:
Jett’s mouth moved slightly, as though he was wrestling with his thoughts. Then he bit back his words, letting out a quiet sigh instead. I quirked an eyebrow and called out curiously, “Jett?”
After a pause, he looked up to meet my eyes and muttered, “It’s nothing, just… I’ve always disliked this birthmark, so I’ve been covering it up with potions.”

As he finished, his mouth mped shut, and a shadow of revulsion and pain flitted across his face. He was obviously hesitant to discuss it further.
Realizing his difort, I tactfully averted my eyes, choosing not to press the issue.
The room’s atmosphere turned icy, filled with an ufortable silence.
I got up, thinking of an excuse to leave the awkward situation, but just then, Jett broke the silence.
“Makenna, what do you n to do next?”
His question came suddenly and sharply, taking me by surprise.
I paused, then settled back onto the couch, countering with my own question. “What are you getting at? Of course, my first move is to avenge my parents and nsmen so they can find peace.”
Jett shook his head, his eyes intense and thoughtful. “I’m not talking about that. I mean… what will you do after you’ve had your revenge?” His questionnded like a sledgehammer, squarely on my chest. The future I had purposefully avoided thinking about, the one beyond my quest for vengeance, now flooded my thoughts.
Indeed, what would my life hold after that?
My mind went nk, and a wave of confusion washed over me like never before.
Jett’s stare was unyielding, as though he was trying to delve into the very depths of my soul.
After a moment, he persisted, “Once you’ve achieved your revenge, will you im the throne?”
