?Chapter 1001:
The envelope bore its unmistakable regal seal, and its weight sent a jolt of unease through me.
I slit it open with care, unfolding the paper as my brows knitted together instinctively.
The words revealed that the Wizard n’s king, withered and frail, teetered on the brink of death, his strength fading fast.
Perhaps the shadow of mortality had stirred his conscience, for he’d arranged for his subordinates to find a son he’d cast aside long ago—a half-wizard borne by a she-wolf.
Why the old king cared about this lost child now was beyond me, and I had no patience for royal dramas. I nearly discarded the letter when the next lines snagged my interest.
Penned by the Wizard n’s eldest prince, it urged me to hunt down this half-blood and erase him from existence.
In exchange, he dangled a prize I couldn’t ignore—a hefty stash of rare magic potions.
Those potions gleamed like gold in my mind—they’d tilt the scales heavily in my favor amid the brewing storm.
The letter described the target, a telltale heart-shaped mark behind his ear.
Weighing the challenge against the payoff, I deemed it a gamble worth taking.
Without hesitation, I scribbled a reply, eagerly signing on.
With the deal struck, I moved to tuck the secret letter into the usual hiding spot, nning to hash out details with the princeter.

Ever since I reached a consensus with the three princes, I felt uneasy and on edge as I waited for the right opportunity.
Finally, Bryan’s letter arrived as expected.
In the letter, Bryan informed me that the troops had been deployed as nned and were encircling the outskirts of Marehelm, bringing the situation under control.
The letter further stated that everything should be resolved within the next few days.
I let out a sigh of relief and slowly put down the letter. It felt like a heavy weight was lifted off my chest.
The anxiety that had bundled itself into a tight knot in my chest lessened significantly.
I looked at Dayton with a smile and said, “Mr. Pierce, perhaps Alden will soon regain his freedom.”
Dayton, now aware of Cody’s betrayal, frowned and asked, “Why would Cody do such a thing? He was a highly respected individual with a high position among the werewolves. Why would hemit such a treacherous act?”
A picture of Cody’s greedy face shed through my mind, and I replied, “Perhaps he couldn’t bear to be beneath Leonardo—the usurper. His thirst for power was insatiable, and he didn’t hesitate to betray the werewolves to gain more power.”
Maia, who had been silently listening, looked uneasy. “Cody is a cunning man. We must be vignt and not growcent,” she said.
I turned to Maia and offered her a reassuring smile. “Put your mind at ease. With the three princes overseeing everything, Cody doesn’t stand a chance against them. We just need to sit tight and wait for the good news.”
