?Chapter 982:
ncing sideways, I caught the flicker of rage on Dominic’s face. His dark eyes gleamed with a cutting edge, brimming with what seemed like raw jealousy and resentment.
Through clenched teeth, he spat, “I tossed aside my crown for you, and here you are, cozying up to another man! Do you have any idea how that eats at me? I’m drowning in envy!”
His words struck me mute.
My quiet only fueled Dominic’s discontent. His grip tightened on my shoulders, his voice dropping to a guttural demand. “Tell me—have you slept with Jett?” My heart lurched, guilt tugging my gaze downward, unable to meet his piercing stare.
The air thickened with tension, the silence suffocating.
My reaction seemed to push Dominic over the edge. His voice trembled with incredulity and fury. “While I’m battling my father for your sake, you’re tangled up with someone else? Do I even matter to you?”
Tears brimmed in my eyes, a sting prickling my nose as I choked out, “Do you think I chose this?”
Shrugging off Dominic’s hands, I let the tears spill as I unleashed the torrent of that fateful time.
“It was Antoni whoced Jett and me with a special aphrodisiac! The moment our skin brushed, its power took hold! Back then, Jett and I plunged into the sea, teetering on the brink of death. As a white wolf, I’m blessed with the gift of self-healing, but Jett has no such shield. To snatch him from the jaws of death, I had no choice but to feed him my blood—that’s the reason why…”

Makenna’s POV:
As my voice reached his ears, Dominic stiffened instantly, the storm of rage and envy in his gaze swiftly giving way to a heavy wave of remorse. He drew me close, wrapping his arms around me from behind with such force it felt as though he longed to meld our bodies into one. His voice broke as he rasped, “Makenna, I’m sorry…”
I had never witnessed him so exposed, so fragile—like a boy caught in a misstep—and the sight left me briefly speechless.
“I’m sorry… I’m sorry…”
He pressed his face into the curve of my neck, his warm breath fanning across my skin as he murmured his apologies again and again. His tone wasden with feeling, and I felt the dampness of his tears soaking into my shirt as they rolled down his face.
My chest quivered, my resolve melting in an instant. Turning to face him, I slid my arms around him, running my hands softly along his back, murmuring reassurances.
“It’s alright now; that’s all behind us.”
At my words, Dominic raised his head, and our eyes locked. Though tears still shimmered in his gaze, a flicker of tender yearning now glowed within them. A lone tear traced a path onto my cheek, and his hand rose to cradle my face, his thumb brushing gently against my skin.
