Chapter 963

    ?Chapter 963:

I paused, caught off guard, but before I could answer, Jetttched onto my other arm. His voice carried a sharp edge as he goaded him. “She is not Makenna right now—she is my wife, Ailyn. Aren’t you worried her cover will blow if she stays?”

Dominic’s eyes narrowed, his re slicing toward Jett. “She belongs to us,” he snapped, his tone icy and possessive. “Why would she leave with you?”

Jett scoffed, his words dripping with mockery, “What is this? Still treating her like your sex ve?”

At that, the three princes’ expressions darkened. Bryan’s fists tightened, his face reddening as if he would lunge at Jett any second. yton’s gaze smoldered with restrained fury. Dominic’s face turned livid, his anger choking off any retort.

Caught in the crossfire, I shot Jett an exasperated look, feeling the weight of the moment.

Realizing he had overstepped, Jett gave an awkwardugh, rubbing the back of his head. “I was just sticking up for you—no harm intended.”

I sighed, pressing my fingers to my temples. “Cody’s situation isn’t sorted yet. Let’s deal with thister.”

With a quick nod to the princes, I said, “I’m heading out for now. If somethinges up,e to me tomorrow.”

“Makenna…” The three princes’ voices trailed after me, pleading, but I couldn’t linger. Another argument might spiral out of control.

Grabbing Jett’s arm, I yanked him along. “Come on, let’s move.” We hurried away, leaving behind a heavy, charged silence.

    Makenna’s POV:

The moment I exited the hotel, I couldn’t miss how Jett struggled to contain his glee.

His face broke into a wide, beaming grin, and his eyes danced with a happiness that seemed uncontainable. Every so often, he let out faint, cheerful tunes under his breath, his stride so buoyant it was as if gravity barely touched him.

I found myself suppressing an exasperated eye-roll, quietly puzzling over what could possibly have him so ted.

All through our trip, curiosity nagged at me, though I kept my questions to myself, focusing instead on getting back to the Pierce estate as soon as possible. Once we arrived, I was intent on tracking down Dayton, desperate for some vital insight he might offer.

But my hopes were dashed when a servant intercepted me at the entrance to Dayton’s quarters, offering a hushed apology. “I’m terribly sorry, Mrs. Burton, but Mr. Pierce has already retired for the night.”

Disappointed, I let out a quiet sigh and retreated to my quarters. After washing up, I stepped out of the bathroom, rubbing my damp hair with a towel, eager to unwind.

Then, out of nowhere, a faint tapping echoed from the window. My heart jumped, and the towel nearly slipped from my grasp.

Who could be at my window thiste?

Peering through the foggy pane, I made out a familiar silhouette—Bryan!

Shock stole my words for a moment before I managed to stammer, “Bryan, why are you here?”

With a nimble motion, he eased himself through the window, brushed off his clothes in a mock gesture, and shed a sheepish shrug. “Just dropping by to check on you—am I not wee?”

I shot him a look of mild reproach and murmured, “Things aren’t the same anymore. If anyone catches you here, it could stir up serious trouble.”
