?Chapter 957:
Evelyn iled in desperation, her hands wing at the air to fend Jett off.
Unperturbed, Jett’s eyes glinted with a flicker of cruelty. In a swift motion, he grasped Evelyn’s jaw and wrenched it hard.
A brittle snap rang out as Evelyn’s jaw gave way.
“Ah—” A shrill scream tore from her throat, tears cascading down her cheeks.
Seizing the moment, Jett poured the potion into her mouth.
“No…” Evelyn thrashed, the liquid spilling from her lips and pooling on the floor.
“This brew is as rare as stardust and a devil to craft. Consider yourself fortunate it is used on you,” Jett taunted, his voice dripping with scorn. With a deft twist, he snapped Evelyn’s jaw back into ce.
Evelyn crumpled to the floor, clutching her mouth as she coughed in agony, her body shuddering violently.
Jett’s frigid stare then slid to Evelyn’s fake mother. Sensing his approach, the woman stered on a syrupy smile.
“No need to trouble yourself—I’ll drink it willingly.”
She scurried forward, snatched the potion, and downed it in one eager gulp.
Evelyn’s coughing finally subsided, and she red up at us, her eyes aze with loathing, her voice raw and venomous.
“What do you want from me?”
I peered down at her, my expression cial, my tone cutting like frost.
“The real question is, what are you scheming?”
I leaned in closer, my steely gaze boring into hers as I pressed her with deliberate intent.
“Why did you set your sights on Alden? What is Cody plotting?”

Makenna’s POV:
A fleeting spark of rm glinted in Evelyn’s eyes before she hastily bowed her head, her whisper so soft it barely reached my ears.
“I haven’t the faintest idea what you mean.”
Her gaze skittered away, deftly dodging the intensity of my stare.
A deep furrow creased my brow as a chilly chuckle escaped my lips, my voiceced with biting sarcasm.
“Isn’t it a tadte for this charade? Do you truly believe your secret’s still safe?”
Evelyn’s frame went rigid, and in an instant, she snapped her head up, fury twisting her features into a wild grimace. She shrieked at me with unhinged abandon.
“So what, Makenna? Even if the reaperes knocking, I would never sell out Antoni!”
Jett sauntered forward, his slow, mocking apuse echoing in the tense air, his hawk-like eyes fixed on Evelyn.
“Well, well, such a faithful littlepdog, aren’t you?”
Before his words fully settled, he slipped a bottle of clear liquid from his coat, a wicked grin curling his lips.
“Lucky for us, I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve to loosen that loyal tongue.”
With a flourish, he gave the bottle a gentle shake and, without a second’s pause, doused Evelyn with its contents.
“Ahh!” A piercing scream ripped from Evelyn’s throat in an instant.
She crumpled to the floor, her body writhing as if consumed by invisible mes, thrashing in a frenzy. Her hands wed at her skin, leaving raw, crimson streaks in their wake.
