Chapter 918

    ?Chapter 918:

Dominic rolled his eyes at Cody’s protests. Looking at the pharmacy owner, who was kneeling on the floor, he casually said, “Perhaps the pharmacy owner and the butler were careless. That’s why the evidence was left behind.”

Dominic then turned to Cody, staring at him as though he could see deep into his soul.

I frowned, feeling a twinge of doubt at the unfolding scene.

I knew Cody well enough to know he was no fool. He wouldn’t have made such a mistake. Something about this felt too convenient.

As I pondered this, Dominic’s gaze shifted to me. His look was quite meaningful. Suddenly, I understood what was going on. I lowered my head, letting a small smile curve my lips. This so-called letter was certainly a forgery.

However, this raised a new question in my mind: how had the three princes managed to prepare such a perfect forgery in such a short amount of time?

Cody, unable to muster a response, stood there in panic. His face was ashen, and he had broken into a cold sweat. He opened his mouth as though to speak but quickly closed it.

This continued for a short while until, finally, a change seemed toe over him. He grabbed the cup on his bedside table and flung it with all his strength at the butler’s forehead.

The cup hit the butler square on the head, drawing blood and causing him to cry out in pain.

“Why? Tell me why. Why would you want to poison me?” Cody roared at the butler.

    Makenna’s POV:

The butler stared at Cody with a look of terror as blood trickled down his forehead. His legs gave out beneath him, and he copsed to the floor.

“I…” he stuttered. However, he couldn’t bring himself to form a coherent sentence.

    ???????????????? ??????????????: ?????????ν??????﹒?????

I frowned at the unfolding scene.

It seemed Cody had decided to throw his butler under the bus to clear his name.

Cody’s face twisted into a look of righteous fury as he pointed an using finger at the butler. “It’s you, you heartless ingrate. You tried to harm me and even dared to pin your crime on Edward?”

His expression then became one of pain. “Haven’t I treated you well?” Cody asked. “If it weren’t for me, your sick wife would have died long ago. Why, then, do you repay my kindness with treachery?”

Cody’s words seemed to hit the butler like a hammer. He stopped his attempts to get up and copsed back on the floor. His eyes stared nkly at the ceiling.

Suddenly, it seemed like something awakened in him, and he looked at Cody with a cold expression. “Yes, Cody! I did want you dead. Mr. Pierce is the only one fit to rule Marehelm!”

With that, the butler stood up and hurled himself headfirst into the wall.

The sudden movement and the loud crash startled me, and I jumped. Before I could take in what had happened, a hand covered my eyes. I then heard yton’s voice: “Don’t look at him.”

I froze. I then remembered that we were surrounded by many people, and any overly intimate interaction with yton would expose my hidden identity.

I hastily brushed yton’s hand away and forced a smile. “Thank you for your concern, Your Highness, but I’m not afraid.”

I straightened and did my best to appear calm and unbothered. The butlery on the floor, his eyes zed over. Blood gushed from a wound on his head.

The butler’s final words echoed in the room. Cody, too, appeared shocked by what had just happened. He then red at Dayton.
