?Chapter 895:
I rubbed my eyes.
Perhaps I was just being paranoid.
Determined not to dwell on the subject, I returned to the banquet.
By then, the banquet was nearly over, and most of the guests were either getting ready to take their leave or conversing in small groups as they exited the hall.
Jett had noticed my absence, so he had waited for me toe back. “Where did you go, and why did it take so long?” he asked with a frown.
“I was feeling a little stifled, so I went out for some fresh air,” I casually replied.
Jett nodded, then said, “I want you not to worry. We’ll find a way into the werewolf forest and rescue the white wolves, putting an end to us being fugitives.”
Seeing the sincerity in Jett’s eyes, I knew that he had never wavered from the mission to protect the white wolves. Touched by his sincerity, I gently said, “I trust you.”
Makenna’s POV:
The banquet finally ended, and the guests gradually dispersed. Jett was called by one of Dayton’s attendants to run a checkup on Dayton, so I was left alone.
I wanted to go out and see Dominic. However, I hesitated, unsure if that was the right thing to do. After a moment of indecision, my desire to learn about the situation of Grace and Alice won out, so I headed for the hotel Dominic had told me about.
A staff member of the hotel approached me the moment I entered the lobby. “I’m here to see Prince Dominic. He asked me toe. Could you please lead me to his room?”
The staff member smiled and said, “Please follow me.”
The staff member and I took the elevator to the top floor. “Prince Dominic’s room is at the very end. Just go straight ahead,” the staff member said.
???????????????? ???????????????? ????????????: g????????ν?????????????
I nodded and watched the staff member leave. Finally, I turned toward the direction of Dominic’s room.
I inhaled deeply and then made to take a step forward when a hand grabbed my wrist and pulled me into the adjacent suite.
I was about to cry out for help when I looked up and met yton’s reddened eyes.
How could it be yton?
His eyes held sadness in them.
My heart skipped a beat as I stood there staring at him.
yton, in a trembling voice, asked, “You’re Makenna, aren’t you?”
I immediately shook my head in denial. “No… You’ve got the wrong person.”
A look of hurt swept through yton’s eyes, and he said, “I saw Dominic holding you in the garden.”
It suddenly dawned on me that he had been the shadow I had seen in the garden.
In a voice rife with sadness and grief, yton asked, “Why? Why didn’t youe to me? Why did you only go to Dominic?”
In that moment, I could no longer hold his gaze as sadness swept through me.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t tell Dominic. He found out himself,” I murmured softly.
yton suddenly pulled me into a tight embrace. He held me so tightly, as though he feared I would be taken from him.
“Where have you been all this while, Makenna? Why have you be someone else?”
