Chapter 806

    ?Chapter 806:

His words hung in the air, and a tense silence descended upon the garden. The women bowed their heads, trembling in fear, too afraid to even breathe too loudly.

Evelyn, always the picture of poise, stepped forward, her movements graceful and fluid. With a gentle smile, she stood beside Leonardo, offering a calming presence. “Your Majesty, it’s not entirely their fault. Conception is a matter of fate, and perhaps the time just hasn’te yet.”

At her words, Leonardo’s expression softened slightly. He gave a small sigh, waving his hand dismissively as though to brush the matter aside.

At that moment, a group of servants entered, carrying steaming bowls of herbal concoctions, their arrival a wee distraction.

The air became thick with the strong, pungent aroma of the herbs. With amanding tone, Leonardo barked, “Drink this decoction. It will boost your chances of conceiving.”

At his words, the once fearful expressions of the sex ves brightened with hope, as if a sliver of possibility had appeared before them. They picked up their bowls with great care, sipping the herbal concoction with eyes full of longing, as though it held the key to their futures.

Taking advantage of the distraction, Alice and I shared a quiet nce, and with a subtle movement, we discreetly poured the contents of our bowls into the nearby flowerbed.

Once done, Alice muttered under her breath, “I refuse to be nothing more than a breeding tool.”

I frowned, my tone measured and cautious. “Stay alert tonight. Something feels off, and I have a hunch that things might take a turn.”

Alice was about to press me for more when Leonardo’s voice thundered once again. “Now, let the sex ves demonstrate the results of their training!”

After Leonardo spoke, the sex ves, draped in borate attire, stepped onto the stage one by one. Their faces shimmered with anticipation.

The stage sparkled under a kaleidoscope of lights, while the music filled the garden with an enchanting rhythm. Apuse and bursts ofughter asionally rippled through the audience.

On the surface, the banquet appeared cheerful and lively, but beneath the glittering surface, a wave of unease churned within me. Leaning subtly toward Alice, I murmured, “Do you feel like something’s off tonight?”

Alice, who was usually carefree, tightened her brows into a faint furrow. “I do,” she said. “Look at them. Those women are ring at you, jealousy and bitterness all over their faces.”

Her words fanned the unease growing in my chest. “They’ve always looked at me like that,” I whispered. “But ever since they drank the herbal concoctions, their resentment seems… sharper.”

Alice instinctively shifted closer, her expression darkening. “What could Evelyn and Antoni be plotting? Do you think they poisoned the remedies?”

I hesitated, shaking my head slowly. “No, that would be too reckless. Poisoning would bring too much risk. I don’t think they’d dare.”

“Please wee Miss Makenna Dunn to the stage for her performance,” a servant’s voice echoed through the garden as my name rang out. Drawing a slow, steady breath, I rose to my feet, smoothing my skirt as I moved deliberately toward the stage.

When I stepped into the bright glow of the lights, my gaze instantly locked with the three princes seated below.

Their expressions were tangled—a mix of tenderness, guilt, and a flicker of bewilderment.
