    Makenna’s POV:


    That night, Iy on the bed, tossing and turning. My mind was a jumbled mess of worries.


    It wasn’t until dawn that I finally drifted into a restless sleep.


    The morning arrived, and I dragged my tired body downstairs.


    Evie immediately noticed how exhausted I looked. “What’s going on with you, Makenna? You look like a roon. Didn’t get a good night’s sleep?”


    I ran my hands through my hair. “I simply couldn’t fall asleep,” I replied, frustrationcing my voice.


    Evie sighed, then began making me a cup of coffee. She handed it to me and asked, “Do you still want to go to training?”


    The thought of training made my mood worsen even more. My aversion to it had only grown, but I knew I couldn’t refuse.


    The leave that Dominic had requested for me was nearly over. I had no choice but to go today.


    Once breakfast was finished, I trudged to the training room. Each step felt unusually heavy.


    When I pushed open the door, I froze in shock at the sight that greeted me. Alice was sitting in the corner. My eyes widened in disbelief as I asked, “What are you doing here, Alice?”


    Alice grinned sheepishly. “I still have some paperwork to finish. I can’t leave the pce until next week. I’m still a sex ve, so I have to continue training as usual.”


    I frowned at this. “That’s so unfair,” I said. “You don’t have toe at all.”


    “Don’t worry about me,” Alice said, but her expression quickly changed to one of concern. “What about you? Didn’t you take a leave? Why are you here?”


    I was about to answer when Evelyn’s voice rang out from the door. “Everyone, quiet down and return to your seats.”

    “Good news?”


    “What’s the good news?”
