?Chapter 791:
“Antoni is a snake in the grass,” I spat, my voice dripping with contempt. “It has to be him pulling the strings behind all of this!”
Alice’s face paled, her hands trembling. “What should we do, Makenna?”
“The king doesn’t take these things lightly. If he believes the rumors, I’ll be finished!”
I ced aforting hand on her back, speaking gently but firmly. “Don’t lose heart, Alice. Let’s go back to our quarters and figure out a n.”
Back at our residence, the air was thick with tension, as if the walls themselves carried the weight of our worries. Evie entered quietly, carrying a steaming cup of milk. She handed it to Alice with a sympathetic smile.
“Thank you,” Alice murmured, her hands trembling as she epted the cup. She took small sips, her sobs muffled but persistent, her shoulders shaking as though under a heavy burden. The silence was broken by a sudden knock at the door.
“It’s me, Amon,” a familiar voice called from outside, his concern clear. Evie and I exchanged nces, silently agreeing on what to do. I called out, “Come in.”
Amon stepped inside, his presencemanding but softened by the worry etched on his face. His eyes immediately found Alice, curled up in the corner of the sofa, and he rushed to her side, his every movementced with urgency.
“Alice, are you alright? Did anyone hurt you?”
But Alice recoiled slightly, pulling away from his outstretched hand. Her voice wavered as she spoke. “You should keep your distance. The rumors… they’re everywhere. I’m fine, but if staying near me ruins your future, I couldn’t bear it.”
Amon ran a frustrated hand through his hair, his expression one of helpless determination. “I don’t know where these rumors came from, but I promise you, I’ll get to the bottom of this. Whoever’s behind this won’t get away with it—I’ll make sure of that.”
He reached out again, but Alice kept her head turned, her silence a wall he couldn’t breach.

Watching them, I felt the weight of Alice’s unspoken fears. She was terrified that the storm of rumors would tarnish Amon’s future, dimming his bright path.
With a sigh, I stepped forward, my voice steady but kind. “Amon, give her some space for now. Alice needs time to process everything.”
He hesitated, his eyes lingering on Alice. But after a moment, he nodded reluctantly, his movements slow as if his heart weighed down each step. With onest look, he turned and left, the door closing softly behind him.
Makenna’s POV:
After Amon left, Alice’s tears spilled freely, cascading down her cheeks like pearls snapping off a broken ne. In despair, she turned to me, her voice trembling. “Makenna, what should I do? I’ve been wronged…”
“I’ve got a n already.” With a cold smile, I patted her shoulder and said, “Since Antoni enjoys spreading rumors so much, we’ll make sure he tastes his own medicine.”
Alice sniffled, worry etched on her face. “What do you have in mind?”
My gaze hardened as I exined, my tone deliberate. “We need a bigger rumor to drown out the one about you and Amon before it reaches the king.”
I paused, my eyes darting between Alice and Evie, their expressions tense with anticipation. “Do you remember Molly?” I asked.
Their faces lit with surprise as they both nodded.
“Before Molly died,” I continued, “she imed Antoni fathered her child. We’ll use that against him.”
Leaning toward Evie, I whispered the details of my n.
