Chapter 1070:
“Ellie is always hyped as a genius, making everyone think she’s the only excellent stylist in the country. Disgusting!”
Kaiden read thesements silently, his expression stoic, but the veins bulging on his hands betrayed his inner turmoil.
“Is there no regtion in the online world?” Kaiden’s voice was as cold as ice, sending chills down Bruce’s spine.
“I’ll handle it right away!” Bruce hastily replied.
Ellie’s blindness couldn’t be concealed, but those attacking her were going too far!
Early the next morning, Ellie awoke to a flurry of calls from friends and mentors in the artmunity, all concerned about her well-being.
She took her time responding to each one with gratitude. But as the number of calls grew overwhelming, she asked Baylee to post an update on Instagram. Baylee crafted a message that candidly addressed Ellie’s eye problem but reassured everyone that she was otherwise fine and thanked them for their concern.
With that settled, Ellie was about to head to the hospital for a prenatal checkup.
When Baylee opened the door, she was taken aback.
“Kaiden, what are you doing here?”
Kaiden had been waiting outside since dawn, his anxiety keeping him restless. Several times, he’d been tempted to smoke but restrained himself, knowing Ellie couldn’t stand the smell anymore. He had held a cigarette in his hand but never lit it.
At the mention of Kaiden, Ellie blinked her unseeing eyes. Kaiden observed her closely, relieved to find no trace of disappointment or sorrow on her face. He couldn’t tell if she was aware of the buzz on the inte, and if she wasn’t, it was better not to bring it up.
“Good morning,” Ellie broke the silence, her tone calm yet distant. “Do you need something from me?” She spoke as if addressing an old acquaintance, a tranquility that only deepened the sense of estrangement.
Kaiden stood upright. “Aren’t you going for a prenatal checkup today?” His implication was clear: he intended to apany her.

“Baylee will go with me,” Ellie replied. “You should focus on work.”
Kaiden promptly responded, “I’m not busy at work.”
Ellie almost scoffed, her expression silently asking, “Are you sure?” But now wasn’t the time to criticize his usualxity at work. The tension between them was palpable.
Baylee nced from Kaiden to Ellie, choosing to remain silent.
“Alright, you can escort me downstairs. Baylee will join me for the checkup,” Ellie finally said.
Kaiden clenched his teeth, swallowing his disappointment. Was she keeping him at a distance for the sake of the baby because of his past behavior? Or was it because he had missed her previous appointment, choosing Carole over her?
“I brought some soup for you. You can have it after the checkup,” Kaiden said, holding out a delicate food box. “It’s chicken soup. Don’t worry, I didn’t add any medicine to it.”
“Thank you.” Ellie then instructed May to take it.
In the confined space of the elevator, Kaiden stood close to Ellie, their proximity barely a fist’s distance apart. Baylee noticed Kaiden’s subtle gestures but said nothing. Ellie frowned, puzzled. Was it her imagination?
Kaiden used to have a faint scent of agarwood, but now it was gone. Instead, he smelled simr to Ayden. Were they using the sameundry detergent?
