Chapter 1046

    ?Chapter 1046:

“Get me to the hospital now!” Ellie yelled.

Leaning heavily on the servant, she was nearly copsing, struggling to hold back her panic.

She couldn’t lose control, not at this critical moment.

Even if she panicked, no one would be there to help her.

Cayson, who had already turned in for the night, hurried over, his hands shaking with worry. “Mrs. Thorpe, I’ll call Mr. Thorpe!”

    “Okay.”

Ellie, struggling with pain, strained to hear Cayson’s hurried footsteps.

    “Why isn’t he picking up?”

Cayson paced back and forth nervously.

Ellie gave a bitter smile, had the servant help her into the car, and instructed, “Call Baylee for me!”

Outside the window, lightning shed, thunder boomed, and rain poured down.

The roads were slick, slowing the car’s progress. Ellie huddled in pain, afraid to move.

“How much longer to the hospital?” Ellie asked the servant.

ncing at the GPS, the servant replied, “At least ten minutes. Miss Curtis has already called the traffic police to help clear the intersections.”

“Mrs. Thorpe, it’s Miss Curtis on the line.” The servant held the phone to Ellie’s ear.

“El, how are you feeling?” Baylee’s voice was filled with concern.

“I’m scared… Baylee, I think something’s wrong with the baby. My stomach hurts so much.”

Ellie, usuallyposed, felt her eyes burn as tears welled up uncontrobly.

“El, don’t worry. I’m heading to the hospital now. I’ll be there with you. The doctors are prepared. I’ve got everything under control!”

Baylee’s tone was soothing, but only Harry, standing nearby, understood the fear behind her determined facade.

After ending the call, Baylee turned to Harry. “Do you know where Kaiden is?”

Having kept watch over Carole, Harry nodded.

“Mr. Thorpe is at the hospital,” he replied gravely. “The same hospital where Carole is.”

    Baylee’s expression darkened even further.

When Ellie woke up, the first sensation she felt was the chill in her left hand. A needle was inserted into the back of her hand, and cold liquid was streaming into her veins.

    All around her was quiet.

Ellie’s immediate reaction was to touch her stomach. The bump was still there. She gently pressed it, reassuring herself it was real, and breathed a sigh of relief.

“El!” Baylee eximed, noticing Ellie was awake and gripping her right hand eagerly.

For Ellie, who couldn’t see, the touch providedfort and reassurance. “My baby…”

“Your baby’s fine, don’t worry. But you need to rest for two weeks to make sure everything’s safe,” Baylee reassured her. “You’ve been so careful with your diet. How could something you ate threaten the pregnancy?”

Ellie was shocked. “What are you saying?” Her voice trembled.

Baylee suddenly realized that because Ellie couldn’t see, she sometimes didn’t know exactly what she was eating.
