Chapter 1035

    ?Chapter 1035:

Ellie bit her lip and fell silent.

Kaiden remarked casually, “Aren’t you concerned that I might covertly turn the two people against you if I’m left to make the choice?”

“I trust Harry’s judgment,” she replied firmly. Loyalty was always Ellie’s foremost criterion when hiring people. Harry was her trusted aide and understood this implicitly.

With the help of a servant, Ellie made her way to the lounge. Kaiden sent the servant away and personally escorted her to the sofa, then stepped outside to await Harry.

Ellie anticipated that Kaiden’s meticulous selection process would take at least half an hour. To her surprise, less than five minutester, the door to the lounge opened. Hearing the noise, Ellie turned her head in confusion and asked, “Kaiden? Did you decide so quickly?” The atmosphere felt tense.

Blind people are particrly sensitive to intangible things like atmosphere.

“El, Baylee is here,” Kaiden announced, standing just behind Baylee.

Baylee gazed at Ellie with a mix of anger, heartache, and regret in her eyes. Originally, Harry was supposed to bring the candidates, but Baylee intercepted him. After a long trip abroad, Baylee had inquired about Ellie’s situation upon her return, sensing Harry’s evasion indicated something was amiss. Yet, she had never imagined that when she stood before Ellie, Ellie wouldn’t be able to see her!

    “Baylee?”

Ellie stood up, feeling nervous, and eventually shed a helpless smile. Baylee hurried over, adjusting her pace to approach slowly, afraid of startling Ellie. She noticed Ellie’s eyes werepletely dull and unfocused.

    Ellie waspletely blind!

Baylee’s throat tightened. Heartbroken, she struggled to find her voice. It took her several seconds to say, “Ellie, what happened? Your eyes… Why didn’t you tell me about this? Do you even consider me a friend?”

Flossie had guessed right. Baylee was so upset upon learning this that she would scold Ellie relentlessly. As she scolded, Baylee began to cry.

Her scolding came with a heartbreaking sobbing undertone, and finally, she hugged Ellie tightly.

“How did you figure it out so quickly too?” Ellie sighed.

Now heavily pregnant, she could only hold her back with one hand, leaning sideways.

“So quickly too?” Baylee caught onto the crucial detail.

“Flossie found out a few days ago. I asked her not to tell you,” Ellie admitted. Baylee felt remorseful. She shouldn’t have stayed abroad for so long to avoid Marvin.

    “What happened exactly?”

Baylee wiped her tears and helped Ellie sit down.

“I’m not fragile. You don’t need to be overly concerned for me,” Ellie said with a mix of amusement and helplessness.

She didn’t want her friend to fret over her, but with Baylee present, she felt more reassured.

“Ellie, don’t upset me! You kept your eye issue from me. We’ll talk about this once you’re well!” Baylee snorted. “You better behave from now on!”

    “Alright.”

Kaiden didn’t interject in Ellie and Baylee’s discussion, but observing the exchange, he couldn’t help but grit his teeth.
