?Chapter 1033:
Kaiden approached to assist her.
But when he touched her hand, she pulled away.
“If you refuse my help, aren’t you concerned about tripping?” he asked.
He firmly wrapped his arm around her waist, grasping one of her hands protectively. “The coffee table leg is one step to your right. If I don’t support you, you might bump into it.”
Ellie clenched her teeth and didn’t pull her hand away again.
After lying down, she automatically faced away from Kaiden, avoiding anymunication with him.
“Are you giving me the silent treatment, Ellie?”
Kaiden observed the rounded, adorable back of her head.
“I need some time to gather my thoughts, Kaiden,” Ellie said tearfully, tears streaming down her cheeks. “Otherwise, I might just want to leave here.” The ce now felt threatening to her.
She no longer had faith in him.
Kaiden’s expression shifted dramatically.
“Ellie!”
His voice turned gravely serious, casting a weighty pall over the room. “You can be mad at me, throw fits, me me, but you can’t walk away,” he asserted firmly.
He was adamant about it!
Ellie gripped the nket tightly, burying her face in it, choosing silence.
She urged herself to sleep repeatedly.
Yet, thoughts of the soup spiked with KY and Kaiden’s words gued her mind, flooding her with concern for the baby.
She cradled her pregnant belly protectively with both hands, curling up in helplessness.
During the day, Kaiden worked intensely, and it wore him out mentally. But he couldn’t bring himself to sleep that night. He feared that if he slept, he might wake up to find Ellie gone, having left without a word. The thought of her silently wiping away her tears while he slept terrified him. Just the idea of it caused him great pain.

It wasn’t untilte at night that Ellie finally drifted off to sleep, though she couldn’t rest deeply. She felt like someone was watching her, even in her half-awake state. Before dawn broke, Ellie woke up.
Kaiden was seated on the sofa in their bedroom, aptop on hisp, a Bluetooth earphone in his right ear. He asionally muttered “Mm” or typed quietly.
Ellie propped herself up to sit. Kaiden noticed her movement and gestured to the individuals on the video call to pause their conversation. He put theptop down and hurried over to assist Ellie.
“Why are you awake so early?” he asked.
“What time is it?” Ellie inquired, unable to gauge the time since she couldn’t see.
“It’s 8:30 in the morning,” Kaiden replied, having just started his morning meeting with the executives.
“Aren’t you going to work?” Ellie asked automatically.
“There isn’t much to handle at thepany today, so there’s no need to go in,” Kaiden exined.
