?Chapter 1023:
Upon reaching her apartment building, Flossie recalled that Levy had left something for her at the security room and returned to retrieve it. Levy’s car remained parked at the entrance, and she was surprised. Herrge, doe-like eyes seemed even more alluring under the bright moonlight, giving her an innocent and fragile look.
“Wh-why are you still here?”
Flossie thought it would be rude to stay silent.
“I was waiting for you to get home,” Levy said, nodding toward her apartment.
The lights in her apartment were off, showing no one was there.
Flossie felt touched. “I see.”
“Hey there, is that your boyfriend?” the security guard asked with a teasing smile.
“Huh? N-no!” Flossie’s cheeks burned. She didn’t look at Levy, unsure if he had heard the guard’sment.
She grabbed the kraft paper bag, thanked the guard, and rushed off without saying goodbye to Levy. Levy heard everything. He had caught the guard’s teasing and her denial. He frowned slightly and lit a cigarette.
Suddenly, the security guard tapped on the car window. “Sir, you can’t park at the entrance here.”
Levy put out his cigarette. “Sorry.”
“Thatdy just now, are you pursuing her?” the security guard asked with a grin. Levy, who usually acted polite and mild but avoided chatting with strangers, found himself nodding without thinking. “Yes.”
The security guard responded, “If you want to win her over, have you let her know your feelings? If you like her, you need to let her know!”
Even after Levy got home, the guard’s words echoed in his mind. “Have you let her know your feelings? If you like her, you need to let her know!” He walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window and looked at the distant balcony.
The light was on, but he couldn’t see Flossie.

He didn’t need to guess to know she was probably ying with that silly dog of hers. Coal Ball ran excitedly when it saw Flossie return with a bag.
Flossie took out dog food and treats, and Coal Ball’s tail wagged so hard it looked like a propeller. “Calm down. It’s all yours!”
Flossie opened a can of beef for Coal Ball and then sent a message to Amy on WhatsApp.
She wrote, “Amy, thanks for the treats and canned food for Coal Ball!” She attached a photo of Coal Ball with its head buried in the can.
“What treats and canned food?” Amy replied.
Flossie’s heart skipped a beat.
Amy didn’t buy them then? But Levy had said that Amy had sent them…
Had Levy bought these things? Flossie wondered.
Coal Ball sensed Flossie’s change in mood and stopped eating to look up at her, confused.
Flossie patted Coal Ball’s head absentmindedly.
There was something strange about Levy, and she couldn’t quite put her finger on it.
She was still trying to sort out her thoughts when the phone rang.
It was Levy.
