Chapter 1019

    ?Chapter 1019:

Kaiden’s face softened. “Money isn’t a problem. I need results, and I need them fast.”

Flossie returned home from theb, uneasy about Ellie’s premature ns for theb. When they first started working together, Ellie once had a high fever but insisted on working in theb all day. Flossie only found outter that Ellie was ill, as Ellie never would have mentioned it herself.

Ellie was only five months pregnant now, with a few more months before giving birth. It seemed too soon for her to be making decisions about theb.

Unless… Ellie no longer had the energy or capacity to handle the work. Flossie had also tried calling Ellie several times in the past few days to arrange a meeting, but each time she was turned down.

    Something didn’t seem right.

Flossie remembered thest time she ran into Ellie at the hospital. Was Ellie really alright?

    “Woof!”

Coal Ball sensed her worry and barked anxiously.

Flossie snapped back to reality, patting its head as she grabbed her bag and left her apartment.

At the entrance of the neighborhood, Levy stood holding a kraft paper bag. When he saw her, he waved.

Flossie was a bit surprised. She hadn’t seen Levy in a long time.

“Amy got this for Coal Ball,” Levy said, handing the paper bag to Flossie, but then pulling it back. “It’s kind of heavy. Can I carry it up for you?”

Flossie exined, “I’m heading out now. Just leave it in the security room; I’ll pick it up when I return. Please thank Amy for me.”

Levy’s smile faded slightly but quickly returned. He ced the bag in the security room.

“Levy, could you do me a favor?” Flossie called out as Levy was leaving.

With his back to her, Levy smiled knowingly.

“What is it?” he asked, turning around, his usual refined and gentlemanly demeanor restored.

“I want to visit Ellie, but I don’t know where she lives. Could you take me there?” Flossie added, “I know it’s a bit rude to show up unannounced, so if it’s inconvenient, don’t worry about it.”

“It’s no trouble at all.” Levy opened the car door and nodded toward the passenger seat for Flossie to get in.

“Thank you, Levy.” The car sped off.

“You’re going to see Ellie without giving her a heads-up?” Levy asked, ncing at Flossie out of the corner of his eye as he drove.

Flossie shook her head. “Don’t worry. El and I are long-time acquaintances. I won’t cause her any trouble.”

Levy was amused. With her mild temperament, who could Flossie possibly trouble? And her rtionship with Ellie was far beyond that of just acquaintances. Ellie obviously treated Flossie as a friend, or she wouldn’t have warned him several times to stay away from her.

The car stopped at the entrance of Moon Manor. Entry required permission from someone inside.

“Not many people aren’t surprised when they firste here,” Levy remarked, watching Flossie calmly survey Moon Manor. Her eyes showed appreciation, but no awe.
