?Chapter 1014:
Ellie moved cautiously, making sure no one noticed any issue with her. She entered the car, reclined in her seat, and covered her eyes with her hands before letting go. She still couldn’t perceive even a sliver of light.
Kaiden opened the car door. Ellie didn’t react, appearing not to hear him.
Kaiden said, “When I came back to Critport the other day, I didn’t go home immediately. It was my fault. I…”
Ellie cut him off. “Kaiden, I intentionally sent you away. While you were gone, I had Harry stay behind to deal with Carole.”
During this time, Ellie felt low. She was convinced that she needed to vent her frustrations to prevent any negative impact on her unborn baby’s health.
Kaiden understood Ellie’s point and said, “I won’t get mad at you for hitting her. You’re my wife.”
“Then why didn’t youe with me to the hospital, but instead went to her? You went straight to see her without even calling me. After you got home, you didn’t exin anything. I doubt you even remember that I’m your wife,” Ellie’s voice turned mocking.
Kaiden entered the car and sat next to Ellie. Ellie scowled when she sensed him. “This is my car. I didn’t invite you in.” She was wealthy and drove her own fancy car.
Kaiden sighed, starting to exin. “Carole’s eyes have problems. Her condition is very simr to yours. I took her to the doctor because of you.” At first, it was to uncover the truth about Leo’s death. Later, it was for you.
Ellie recalled that when she had seen Carole earlier, someone had been supporting her. Carole’s eyes had been vacant.
Ellie gazed at Kaiden in astonishment, a flicker of fear briefly appearing in his usually calm ck eyes.
“You…”
“She’s blind too, isn’t she?” Ellie said quietly.
Just moments ago, Kaiden had seen Carole stumbling down the stairs because she couldn’t see. He wasn’t bothered by Carole’s fall, but the thought of Ellie in the same situation was intolerable to him.

Kaiden embraced Ellie tightly. “Don’t worry. I’ll find a solution. Don’t be scared, El.”
“Your solution is Carole, right?” Ellie allowed herself to rest in his embrace. “Kaiden, I don’t want to owe her. If you have to use her as a guinea pig, I’d rather not.” The idea of owing Carole weighed heavily on her conscience.
Only with a clear conscience could she give Harry the order to deal with Carole.
“She volunteered to help. She should be grateful to us.” Kaiden kissed Ellie’s eyes. “El, I kept this from you to spare you the guilt.”
“But I hate being kept in the dark.” Ellie felt hurt, burying her face in his shoulder, especially when her questions had led to ufortable answers.
“Sorry, I won’t do it again,” Kaiden replied earnestly.
He rubbed his cheek against hers, trying tofort her.
“I’ll make you better soon. Don’t be scared, baby.”
“I’m not scared. It’s you who seems extremely concerned. Don’t be scared, Kaiden.”
She raised her hand and awkwardly searched for his face.
She first touched his chin, feeling the smooth jawline that reminded her of his handsome features.
