?Chapter 999:
She had been worried that something might have happened to Marvin near her apartment just now. That was why she hade out to check, and now she felt foolish! It wouldn’t be her fault if something had happened to him.
“Baylee,” Marvin prompted, pressing her for a response.
“I’m taking out the trash.”
Baylee held up her hand to show that she was carrying a ck garbage bag. Luckily, she had just prepared it.
Marvin was at a loss for words. He didn’t know how to respond.
Baylee taunted, “What’s wrong? Want to help me take out the trash?”
To her surprise, Marvin smiled and took the garbage without hesitation. “I don’t mind the garbage at your ce.”
Baylee was speechless.
With Marvin distracted by the trash, she swiftly closed the door.
Marvin smiled helplessly and called out, “Remember to have dinner!”
Baylee wasn’t keen on regr dinners. If she was hungry, she’d grab something on the go; if not, she’d skip it. This habit had changed for a while after Marvin moved in, but now she had reverted to it.
Standing by the door for a while, Baylee didn’t hear any signs of Marvin leaving. She didn’t bother checking from the balcony either. She simply didn’t care.
However, she was abruptly awakened in the middle of the night by a knocking at the door. Initially, she intended to ignore it, not bothering to check who was at the door.
Yet there was a persistent knocking at the door. Irritated, Baylee got up and looked through the peephole. She saw a familiar face—it was Marvin’s female secretary. The secretary was holding the arm of a tall man, his head bowed. At first nce, Baylee recognized him as Marvin.
Marvin’s secretary kept knocking on the door. After a minute, Baylee answered.
“Miss Curtis, I apologize for thete visit. Mr. Hill is drunk and insisted oning here,” Marvin’s secretary exined, sounding sorry.
???? ??????? ?? ?????????.???
Baylee stated in an indifferent tone, “I’ve already ended things with him.”
“What?” The secretary looked puzzled. She wasn’t aware of that! Now that they had broken up, why would Marvin want her to send him here? Could it be that… Marvin had been dumped?
The secretary sensed she had stumbled upon a forbidden truth.
“Now that you know, please take him away. It’s not right for him to be here anymore,” Baylee said icily.
The secretary managed a strained smile. “Miss Curtis, Mr. Hill insisted oning here instead of going home. I’m in a tough spot.”
“If it were Marcelo sending him, I wouldn’t have opened the door today.” Since they were both women, Baylee didn’t want to give Marvin’s secretary a hard time. So, she opened the door and spoke inly.
The secretary felt intimidated by Baylee’s strong presence and decided it was best to leave with drunk Marvin to avoid more trouble.
As she was about to turn away with Marvin, he suddenly shoved her aside.
“Stay away! I have a girlfriend! Baylee will be mad!” he yelled.
Marvin, with drunken eyes, stared at Baylee and staggered toward her.
