?Chapter 996:
Kaiden had already noticed their curious nces.
After finishing the day’s work and overtime, he asked, “Any questions?”
“Mr. Thorpe, when my wife was pregnant, I did a lot of reading. Should I give you a list of prenatal education rmendations? It includes songs, books, and more,” one of the senior managers proposed.
Kaiden nced at Bruce. Only Bruce hade in while he was on the phone with Ellie.
Bruce avoided eye contact, hesitant to say anything.
“Sure, send it over to me,” Kaiden replied, shifting his gaze away. “Everyone, let’s grab ate-night snack. My treat.”
The group exchanged smiles and couldn’t resist cheering. Sure enough, helping Kaiden’s wife had its perks.
Kaiden truly stood by his principles. His guiding principle was his wife.
Baylee punched in the code for the digital lock. A faint aroma of food greeted her. On the dining table were three dishes and a soup, each portion small but beautifully presented, with vors Baylee liked.
As always, Baylee left the food untouched until it cooled down. She knew that the person who had cooked it would discard it.
Baylee couldn’tprehend what Marvin was thinking when he cooked the food. The next morning, after their breakup, she hadn’t eaten the breakfast Marvin had prepared, yet he had returned in the evening to clear away the cold breakfast and cook her dinner.
Then she had left the dinner untouched, and he had returned the next day to dispose of it and prepare breakfast anew. He repeated this routine endlessly. A whole week had passed.
Hold on!
Baylee was struck by a sudden thought and promptly dialed Marvin.
“I have erased your fingerprint from the ess control system. How did you get in today?”
Realizing that ignoring the meals didn’t affect Marvin’s pride or resolve, Baylee had deleted his fingerprint from the ess control system the day before. Marvin’s voice sounded as caring as always, tinged with amusement because Baylee had called him.
???? ??????? ?? ?????????.???
“Baylee, if you really want to keep me out, you’ll need to change the password.”
“You…” Marvin was abruptly cut off mid-sentence when the call was disconnected.
Baylee was likely going to change the password. Marvin smiled helplessly.
In the next moment, he turned to the person standing a few steps away, his smile reced by a cold expression. His gaze was chilling.
“Quincy, every second you spend in front of me makes me angrier and puts the Rollins family in greater danger.”
Quincy tightened his fists, veins standing out on the back of his hands. He hade to negotiate with Marvin for the sake of the Rollins family. Marvin’s harsh actions to cut ties between the Rollins and Hill families had caused significant losses for both sides. What was the point? Maintaining the partnership between the Hill and Rollins families would benefit everyone involved.
Unexpectedly, right after Quincy stated his purpose, Marvin got a call from Baylee.
Was Baylee still reaching out to Marvin?
Since Quincy had broken up with Baylee, she hadn’t contacted him since. He had known Baylee since childhood. Did those years together mean nothingpared to the few months she spent with Marvin?
