    Kaiden enjoyed this change. He had to admit that it felt good to be needed.


    “I’m not asking you to stay,” Ellie replied softly, looking down.


    With his busy schedule, he didn’t need to rush back to see her. The constant back and forth was exhausting.


    “You feel sorry for me?” Kaiden grinned. “Ellie, if you pity me, I’ll stick around.”


    Ellie eyed him suspiciously. Did he really want to give up on his project?


    “Give me your answer,” Kaiden urged.


    He leaned in, kissing Ellie on the lips and then on her cheek.


    Ellie yfully pushed his face away, saying, “Kaiden, it’s time for you to head to the airport. Don’t miss your flight!”


    She insisted that Kaiden should leave to attend to his work rather than stay and keep herpany. After all, his project team was waiting for him.


    Kaiden sighed silently, appearing a bit disappointed. If Ellie had asked him to stay, he probably would have.


    As Kaiden tried to weigh his decision logically, he sensed something was amiss. He opted to stay regardless. After all, he believed in spoiling his wife.


    Kaiden kept reading to Ellie until the driver finally insisted he leave.


    Ellie, now lying in bed, had drifted off to sleep. Since bing pregnant, she had developed a new habit: she always ced her hand protectively over her belly while sleeping.


    Kaiden kissed her cheek and gently ced a kiss on her swollen belly. Whispering softly to the baby inside her, he said, “You better behave yourself. Don’t give your mom a hard time, or I’ll have to discipline you in the future.”


    The next morning, when Ellie woke up, she found herself alone, as if Kaiden’s return the previous day had been a dream. But when she remembered that he had read her a book before she fell asleep, a warm feeling washed over her. What Kaiden did was really romantic.


    After getting ready, Ellie headed downstairs. Spotting her, the woman sitting on the sofa stood up with a smile.

    “Good morning, Mrs. Thorpe!” She even gave a little salute.


    “Baylee, when did you get here?” Ellie asked, surprised to see her.


    “Your husband asked me to keep youpany so you wouldn’t be stuck at home reading books or glued to yourputer and phone all day,” Baylee exined.


    Cayson quickly came over to get Baylee’s preferences and then organized lunch.


    “Why are you staring at me?” Baylee noticed Ellie ncing at her. “You can ask anything you want. I know you have an appetite for gossip.”


    Ellie took Baylee’s arm. “I’m not into gossip. I just want to know about your love life.”


    Ellie asked, seeing that Baylee seemed upbeat.


    “I’m not looking for a partner right now. I n to be a fabulous single woman and take care of your baby after he or she is born!”


    After a moment’s thought, Ellie cautiously inquired, “Is it because of Marvin or…?”


    “A new rtionship means potential heartbreak, you know.” At that, Ellie turned to look at Baylee. The morning sun bathed Baylee in a gentle glow.
